+782 The very best teacher to have is one who has never taught before, preferably right out of gradschool. The subject they're teaching is fresh in their minds, they're still enthusiastic about their jobs and they haven't quite realized what big assholes students can be. Amirite?

And they can connect with you the most because they haven't forgotten what being in high school was like yet.

I agree for the most part. I find that sometimes the new teachers haven't found a "good" way to teach yet and so their lessons are straight from the book, unorganized, uneventful and downright confusing.

But they can also remember how their own teachers taught it, and they can teach the way that worked the best for them.

The new ones are also more likely to be willing to use newer methods and technology than teachers who have been doing it the same way for many years.

my modern world teacher!!!! her class is still fun! lol she did this thing where we named all the bad names we could name about girls/boys and in the end, she taught us how it was all associated with sex or gender.....awesome teacher

lolno, that's like saying the best pie you make is your first one. it's THE OTHER WAY AROUND. just because they're excited and happy doesn't mean they're good teachers

it really depends one of my favorite teachers is very young and a great teacher, she understands us and all the stress you go through in highschool but isn't a pushover and another one of my favorite teachers is just a great teacher, and I actually like English this year. Her methods are great, and she knows what she's teacher but the problem with young teachers is that they don't always know a good method to teach, and old teachers can be grumpy thinking that all kids are going to "talk back"

The other thing about young teachers is that they tend to be desperate to prove themselves. That's good if it's student approval they want; it's a nightmare if they're looking for peer approval.

Last year I had a teacher straight out of school. She did love her subject and was nice, but she was stuck in college mode, and no one in my class was ready for that. She expected too much from us from the start, and we all got burned out and hated the class at the end. The same thing is going on with another new teacher at our school. I think the best teachers are actually the ones that have been teaching it for a long time and STILL love it.

no. my engineering teacher just got her degree this past year, and she can't teach. at all. everyone agrees that she sucks, the only people that understand that class are the super genius socially awkward kids. after a few years of teaching is best, because they know what they're doing but haven't started to hate their job yet.
