What is the problem with Obama not being American born, I mean, George Washington isn't American born either, amirite?

I thought the law was that if you aren't born in the US, you can't run for president? I'm not that great in 8th grade US history/Constituation, so i might be wrong. But I do believe he's american born.

Obama is american born. Hawaii is part of the 50 states. Also, he wouldn't be able to run for president if he wasn't a US BORN citizen.

He would be able to run for President without proving his citizenship. Obama has managed to successfully spend 2 years in office without ever proving his citizenship. In fact, he's paid millions in lawsuits to keep from having to talk about his proof of citizenship. Look it up, even if you don't think it's true. Find out about both sides of the story.

Also, it's not a requirement to be born in the US. You have to be a US citizen. So technically you could be born elsewhere in the world to American parents and still be a citizen. John McCain, for example, wasn't born in the US, and is a citizen.

You don't have to be born in the United States. If your under a certain age when your parents become naturalized you can run for president as well.

I wasn't a HUGE fan of Bush, but it wasn't all Bush's fault. Clinton set him up for disaster. And before people say, "HE HAD A SURPLUS!! BUSH GOT US INTO DEBT!", you have to keep in mind- In the roaring 20s, everyone APPEARED to be rich. The stock market policies made it possible to have a surplus. However, when people didn't/couldn't pay the bank back [in the 30s], we crashed. In Clinton's presidency, he initially started the whole banks-can-give-loans-to-people-who-obviously-won't-be-able-to-pay-them thing, and it seemed like people were all fine and dandy, there was a surplus, and it crashed during Bush's presidency. Granted, Bush didn't help much, but he isn't fully to blame. Technically, then, it was a 12 year mess.

FYI- the debate exists because Obama has not actually proved he was born in Hawaii. He hasn't shown his birth certificate, only a lesser version of it (forgot what it's called). Some people believe he was born in Kenya because his mother was there around the time of his birth. His father is Kenyan. Also, he may have given up his right to US citizenship around age 10 when he moved to the Philippines with his family and became a naturalized citizen. The laws at the time did not allow dual citizenship; he would have forfeited his American citizenship.

Actually, George Washington WAS born in the US. And it says in the Constitution that the president has to be born in America, so if George hadn't been born here, he wouldn't have been president. And if Obama is paying lawyers thousands of dollars to keep his birth records hidden, wouldn't you think he has something to hide? Hate to sound like a Conspiracy Theorist, but it's true.

@642621 (Anonymous): It's not just because of skin color. Bush's family is a prominent American family (like them or not) and have been for years. They can prove they are American citizens. I'm sure they DID prove they were American citizens. I believe (would hope) that the President goes through many many background checks, etc, to prove his citizenship. Obama's family is less well known. There is some uncertainty about where his family was when he was born. The fact that is mother is no longer alive only adds to it - she cant make a statement one way or another. Also his family makes contradictions about where exactly he was born in Hawaii. So it's all just a little weird.

Haha, see, I think when people assume that the Constitution is up for interpretation, they need to include everything in it. For example, the US born part was put into place so that an angry Brit couldn't take control of the States and put us back under the king's reign. Therefore, it's outdated. Any part of the US Constitution can be argued for any defense, ever.
