+260 The health teacher should not use the diabetic kid in class as an example in the diabetes chapter, or the peanut allergy kid in the allergy chapter, and especially not while they're sitting right there, amirite?

Why not? Unless they're ridiculing them, whats the problem? The kid probably knows more about it and could explain it better.

It's like calling the fat kid fat. You don't call the fat kid fat, you call the skinny kid fat because it's obviously not true.

But having diabetes or a peanut allergy isn't viewed negatively like being fat is.

But people can still get bullied for it. Either way, a teacher shouldn't make an example out of them unless they first ask the student if it is ok.

People get bullied for anything. In that case, no examples for anything, because someone, somewhere in that class, might take offense

I didn't say that. They just shouldn't point out a particular person who actually has diabetes or an allergy, or anything like that. It is a personal matter and the teacher has no right to make it a public matter.

I think a better wording for this would have been, "Don't drag your student into the lecture so you can talk about why they're different and what they've got wrong with them unless you've first gotten their permission."

And your history student shouldn't use the Asian kid as an example when talking about the construction of the Canadian railway...hawkward.

Once, my math teacher found a "Made in China" sticker on the floor. He picked it up and stick it on an asian girl...

It really depends on how the teacher uses the kid as an example.

It would probably also be a bad idea to use the pothead in the class as an example of how badly drugs can screw up your life
