+487 Why do people complain about bands changing their sound? If they stayed the same album after album, fans would just be complaining about how boring they are. Just be happy the band is making music, amirite?

It depends on what kind of changes we're talking about. Evolving as an artist is one thing- Marilyn Manson is a good example- but if they make changes specifically to cater to the mainstream and get more popular, then that sucks. Not because bands that are popular all sold out; if they cross over into pop on the strength of their own style, that's great. It's only when they conform their style to get there that they've sold out.

i completely agree with this, except when it comes to linkin park. they arent playing the style THEY created anymore...

Changing up is one thing, if it actually makes you sound better. Then bands like Linkin Park change up for the worse, it's just like...what? A Thousand Suns was just too different for my taste. They created their own style, that a ton of people liked, and they should've used it.

It's okay for bands to change and mature; it's expected. That doesn't mean I have to like their change (i.e MCR). It's one thing to complain and an entirely different thing to state your opinion of it.

I disagree, because if the band was successful with their old sound, wouldn't they want to continue ? Instead of making new crappy music?

I agree. I mean, maybe they're maturing and want to try a different sound. It's not a big deal, and it's not bad.

I agree that Linkin Park changed its sound for the worst. I love their old music better.
