They are based on maturity. But creators know that parents aren't just gonna fucking drop their 5 year old off at the movies and leave them there for a few hours, so they throw some adult humor in that's too adult for kids to understand, so that the parents get a laugh out of the movie too.

How are the ticket clerks supposed to judge one's maturity? Give them a personality test before they sell them tickets? That's absurd and illogical.
