Prostitution has always been existent in our society and knowing trend that our generation's morals and code of living is following, i think that prostitution will be lasting for much more time. And i totally agree with the fact that the legalization of prostitution in state's of the world where the populace generally tends towards the positive extreme. This step would prevent clandestine prostitution and more secure means of 'working' would be initiated.

It will exist whether it is legal or not, there is no way of stopping it. We might as well, make it safe for the workers, make the job taxable with health benefits.

yeah i agree. Legalisation would bring about a structurilization of the prostitution industry, if i can call it that way. It will no more be carried out with any stepwise guideline but instead it will be under the control of the law. Also, as crazy or grotesque as it seems the setting up of workers unions for them would be a possibility to face the possible problems they might face. Adding to this the legalisation of prostitution would be a heavy blow to child abusing and exploitation networks. Underage girls wouldn't be allowed to enter the world of prostitution under the legal conditions. What could be interesting too, would be use possibility to centralize brothels and similar institutions which would make it somewhat of a restricted zone to minors, that way our kids would be protected from the temptation of vice. I think our morals can be manipulated to some extent if this allows the whole world to be a better place.

Prostitution should be legalised, but this is not the reason why. Murder will occur despite laws against it, but this doesn't mean we should legalise it.

Murder and prostitution are not very comparable. If prostitution would be legalised, like it is where I'm from, at least those poor people get to see a doctor regularly and are much less afraid to go to the authorities when their "boss" or one of their clients treats them bad. If the government can keep an eye on those people, their life circumstances will be much better.

Agreed.

Coincidentally (or maybe not) where I live (Ontario, Canada) Several contoversial laws that helped prevent prostitution just got struck down. Prostitution was never illegal in Canada, but the laws stopped it by happening by not allowing brothels, solicitation, etc. Technicallites. They were declared unconstitutional because they risked the safety of the sex-workers. It was really a quite interesting case, but its not set in stone yet. The Provincial and Federal Government still have time to appeal and I believe they want to. Interesting, oui?
