+216 It's ridiculous to sell jeans that have holes in them at a higher price than normal jeans. Really, you could just destroy your clothes yourself. amirite?

I can't remember what show it was but they were talking about jeans with holes in them and they said something like "We should give the jeans to homeless people, then we take the jeans back once there's holes in them and resell them. That way we can make money and clothe the homeless."

No, it's ridiculous to //buy// jeans with holes for a higher price when you could make them yourself. It is/was a trend, and people want trendy things. Stores are smart for raising the prices on goods that are wanted more.

everything has it's own specific asthetics, and can be made to look better when professionally done. an example would be like how sometimes in a tv show, a teenager's room is shown messy. even though the goal is to make it dirty, it has to be perfectly dirty so a set designer would make it

Or get a real teenager to live in it for a day. It would probably be cheaper too. As a teenager, if I was paid like $10 to screw up a room, I'd do it really well.

They use special chemicals to distress them, so the cost of production is higher. It seems silly but it makes sense- apart from the fact that you're buying jeans with holes in them.

no, it doesnt look the same,i have jeans with holes from being worn and i have no idea how to rip them to look store bought, plus i know they cost more because they require a lot more labor to be made to look distressed
