+705 Think about this..Atoms have a nucleus (sun) and electrons that orbit it(planets) what if our solar system is just an atom in something bigger? amirite?

Galaxies look like brain cells. Nasa has pictures comparing the two.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We live inside of something!

didn't work?:(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it worked delciously for me..

http://www.amirite.net/393576/752910 Go to this post at the bottom and read what it says. Mind unblown.

oh gawd.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, no. Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, remember?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Little known fact: this post is a real theory.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, electrons don't orbit the nucleus, they're found in orbital, which are places with a high probability of housing electrons. Basically, they fly around randomly and it's impossible to actually know where they are at any given time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

....they still "orbit" it, it's not orderly but it is essentially an orbit..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fyi I was gonna say tht too then u posted itt I wanted to sound all smartish LOL

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ELECTRONS ORBIT THE NUCLEUS. why don't you kids understand that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

AN ORBIT IS PREDICTABLE AND CONSTANT!!!! ELECTRONS DONT ORBIT ITS COMPLETELY RANDOM!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm in honors chem with a crazy teacher who quizzes us every day on stuff we just learned and stuff we learned at the beginning of the year, and I can tell you this; They don't "orbit". They surround. The model that had them orbiting it was deemed obsolete. The new "cloud" model has a bunch of dots where the electron COULD end up. Electrons don't orbit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Surround orbit same diff! I'm trying to point out they essentially more our less do go around the nucleus, contrary to some comments

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They are different. You can your friends can surround a campfire, but it doesn't mean you orbit around it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah but in that metaphor that would require us to be moving around the campfire not sitting. Electrons are moving, not sitting so to speak.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Me)It can be found where a electron is at any given time, or how fast its going, but not both. You should learn that in grade High School.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe I'm taking this to literally, but a nucleus is not a sun...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you're taking it too literally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

O_O

by Anonymous 13 years ago

For the nucleus to be the sun, the sun would have to be more than just hydrogen (74%), helium (about 24%), and some metal floating around

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well hydrogen and helium are atoms and what if those atoms are made up of stuff that we cant separate because the atom is too small? That would mean that there is a possibility that there are actually even smaller worlds on the atoms we have!!!! O.O

by Anonymous 13 years ago

atoms are broken down into electrons, protons and neutrons which are broken down into quarks and gluons. Electrons are fundamental, they can't be broken down.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why did you HAVE to make me think of this....!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think about this all the time. But its also pretty MIB much.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

whoa that was an intense post

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, there could be MILLIONS of universes within my brain, therefore I am their god and whatever I think happens, will happen to them. GIANT RAINING DILDOS HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Would our universe be an Ion or just balanced?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually we are just an atom in something bigger. Do you know how HUGE the universe is?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It has been proven the every electron is exactly the same, no size, charge or weight differences. Therefore the way our solar system is made, the fact that Earth is a fraction the size of Jupiter and none of the other planets are the same, shows that we cannot be part of a atom or larger entity. Just saying. Cause I used to believe in this theory for many years, but unfortunately it is not possible

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Holy shit. What if we are just an atom inside of a massive being...then what is the environment of that being?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

mind. blown.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Then what lives in us? o_0

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is extremely likely, and in an even more likely since the universe has no end or bounds, outside of our atom is another bigger atom, and another atom, and another, continuing forever. Same with atoms here, thus making infinite places, civilizations, spaces and universes, and dont get me started on dimensions...infinite dimensions for each of those infinite places...yeah

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It has been proven that it is not possible. We know what our atoms look like on Earth, and therefore the rest of the universe, and we also know what general shape the universe is in. Your basically saying that we are part of an atom in a larger entity. We have proved our universe is expanding, so this would make the "atom" that we make up also expanding. Doesn't make any sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, the "atom" that we make up would be our solar system. Our solar system isn't expanding much. With this theory our solar system would be an atom in a larger mass. And sense the universe is expanding as you said, it would be as if the mass we make up is expanding. Which does happen. If i'm making any sense..

I feel like a PIMP

by Anonymous 13 years ago

youre not the first to think of this pimp

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First to get it posted on here though...so PIMP

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude! Good point!! :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know! I thought of this too!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

For the people that say "we don't orbit like atoms" or "we aren't made up of the same stuff that electrons and atoms are made of." Who's to say that the "atom" we make up isn't different from our own "atoms" and have that we would have to have the same characteristics?
