+408 College is shitty. It's boring, expensive, and has insane amounts of work, but I'm suffering through it to get a good job, amirite?

If you're suffering through it, you're not going to get a job you love. College is a pre-experience for life, pretty much. I love my major now, so maybe thinking of changing yours might help? That's what I ended up doing.

Thanks, I'm actually really far from home, like seattle to Connecticut, an the distance is affecting me more than I thought. I'm probably gonna transfer home and it will probably get better.

The sad thing is, in this economy, you're still not going to get a good job even with college.

so true.

I loved college. Yeah, ridiculous amounts of work, but it was still fun and I didn't mind it. That said, degrees are like high school diplomas now. Might as well add a Masters to your list if you want to get a good job and be a competitive/attractive candidate.

you shouldn't be suffering in college. maybe you're not at the right place. honestly, i know i have to enjoy college (and i definitely am) because these are my last 4 years before i'm thrown out into the real world

How is going through college not the real world? You're still paying bills with your own money. Life is just more complicated because you have to schedule everything around work AND school.

well for me and for a lot of people i know, my parents are paying for a good amount of college. yeah, it's a lot of work sometimes, but a lot of the time i get to hang out with my friends and just have fun, but once college is over i have to go looking for a job, find somewhere to live, and really have to live on my own without meals being served to me or anything like that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah I know a lot of people who are like that but for most people going through college it's a lot of work from school as you said plus a full time job already but it doesn't pay that great so the bills are already here and they suck. And not living in a dorm/stereotypical college life has more of the stereotypical eating cereal for dinner because you're too tired at the end of the day to eat real food, and because it's a lot of the food you already have.

lol Im glad im not the only one feeling this way. Im thinking about changing my major from nursing because I hate the classes im taking. But I just dont wanna waste time in a major thats not gonna get me a degree especially when both I and my mother have taken out loans ya know.

So it's not all red cup parties and "TOGA!" like in movies & tv?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

not if you plan on graduating

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you can party and still graduate. Not that hard.
