It's a type of wheat. I wasn't saying it wasn't a word. I don't see how wheat fits into what you said.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yes but there are other meanings too hun

"Spelled" is not the same as "spelt." You were trying to say "spelled," but you spelled it wrong.
by Anonymous13 years ago
this is in the dictionary:
Spell (other uses: spelled, spelt, spells, spelling) specify or name the letters that comprise the converionally accepted form of (a word or part of a word)
Orally recite the letters of or give the spelling of.
Plus on webster, spelt is up there, therefore you can use spelled or spelt

Which dictionary? I wouldn't trust an online dictionary (unless it's the Oxford one which is down).
Anyway, in the English that I'm studying, "spelt" is not an acceptable synonym for "spelled."
by Anonymous13 years ago
I got it from Webster and oxford isn't down, so i checked it and it says that spelt is a word. So yah.... Spelt is a word
by Anonymous13 years ago
The Oxford English Dictionary: Online isn't up until December.
Anyway, I never said that "spelt" isn't a word. I said in the English that I am studying, it is not an acceptable substitute for "spelled."

That's what I was on. Here is the link: http://oxforddictionaries.com/
And I know you said it wasn't the correct word to use, but it is. Spelt and spelled are both correct. It is in many dictionaries
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's not actually the Oxford English Dictionaries website.
It may be in many dictionaries, but that doesn't mean anything to me. As I said, for what I am studying, it isn't.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well I am saying it is. It is also in my print dictionary which is a college dictionary, so I am trusting it. And I am sticking with it, so spelt or spelled is correct
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, we're obviously not at the same university.
by Anonymous13 years ago

by Anonymous13 years ago
