If you're going to make points that are against that of the general public, it would be in your own best interest to make them intelligently: giving context to the opinion, using correct spelling and grammar, and NOT TRIVIALIZING THE DEATHS OF NEARLY 3000 INNOCENT, NON-ENLISTED PEOPLE FROM AN ACT OF HATE BY COMPARING IT TO AN ACT OF WAR THAT EXISTS BY AN ESTABLISHMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF CREATING A REFORM FOR LACK OF A LESS DRASTIC OR DEADLY OPTION.

Reminder- Reign of Terror was a time when people were just pulled onto the streets and executed on the spot.

True. However, and I'm not saying that this is the best form of action for the motive, the ultimate motives of these people were not to cultivate fear, it was to, as far as I know, reform the existing Establishment. This is an action to be performed as a response to oppression on a large scale to the People. Terrorism is not for the good or well being of any demographic, but rather for the endangerment and eradication of one.

But it turned into an act of terror very quickly. It started with reform, but as I understand it they later just executed anyone suspected of being on the wrong side, even if there was evidence to the contrary or no reason for them to be in any part of the conflict.

Just because a point sounds catchy doesn't make it true, or effective.

It's true. I still see Al-Qaeda as terrorists though.

That's basically what I'm saying.

Terrorists target civilians, revolutionaries generally are the civilians.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not to mention the gross difference in motive. Terrorists, as the name implies, act to cultivate a culture of terror and violence. Revolutionaries act to reform an oppressing government or power that exists and inhibits on the rights of the People.

Well, yes. But terrorists generally think "The fuck? These people are stupid and wrong and I know what's really right. I'm going to kill them to make everything awesone." I suppose they probably think they're something of a revolutionary group working for "the good of mankind" by eliminating the people they don't like, while the people against them are their terrorists/people who are in the wrong (since they seem to wear the title "Terrorist" proudly, I guess I would need another word for their enemies . . . ). And all the while, the people who *they* see as enemies see themselves as revolutionaries and the terrorists as the ones who are in the wrong.
It made sense in my head . . . .
