+584 If only someone had told you that your elementary and middle schools grades don't count for shit. Things might have been different, amirite?

lol i actually realized it in my last year. i was like the biggest slacker the world could ever see, i'd always get weird looks from students when playing a vocab game in English i'd just say "oh i know the answer but i dont want to answer it to spite my teammates"

I'm not going to disagree because I feel you're right but at the same time there is a opinionated flaw in within your post. Imagine how hard High School would be without the habits you developed during Elementary and Middle School. I admit I did slack at the end of 8th grade, well actually not too much because I had to pass 2 classes or else I couldn't promote to 9th.

Yeah, I did think of that. But personally, I had much better study habits back then than I do now, but they kind of fell apart once I got older. I think this might be the case with a lot of people, which is why I decided to post anyway. I can definitely see where you're coming from. :)

Where I live, they actually do count for shit. Well your middle school grades do at least. Your middle school grades decide what high school you get accepted at and your choices are pretty much the smart school that looks very good on your college application and the shitty school where you get stabbed if you look at someone funny.

Well...moving on to the next grade is always a good thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Where I went, they passed you no matter what your grades were.

Today, my guidance counselor told us nothing from middle school counts now. I was so pissed -_- I worked hard for that freaking 99 average and it doesn't even count.

You mean colleges don't check your fifth grade report card?! WTF!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There's a girl in my school who thought getting into 8th grade student council would look on her college application. -__-

But it will help you in life! I mean, you took one sentence and split it, unnecessarily and stupidly, into two fragments. So while your GRADES do not matter, what you learn does.

Consider anything I post on this website to be creative writing, written and punctuated in a way more akin to colloquial speech, and thus immune to overly strict grammar laws. Unnecessary, perhaps, but stupid, no. It was a conscience design choice.

Dudeeee. I had like a perfect average in elementary and middle school. Then I get to the end of middle school and my mom is like, well, you did great, but NOW is when it really counts. D;

They count because they decide what classes you take in high school. i.e. honor classes, and if you do well in math and science you already get 1 credit for each.

My 6th grade math grades counted, because those got me into honors. And those counted because those got me into a high school course, which matters. My 7th grade science grade mattered because it got me into a high school course, which matters. Otherwise, it doesn't count for anything. [Still try in 8th grade, though, to get into honors HS classes]

My math and science classes count because I'm taking the high school level.
