+802 It's annoying when people tell you that the sport you play/do isn't hard, when they've never attempted it before. Swimming is hard core and if you say any different your not doing it right. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I swam uphill against the flowing current... piece of cake

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Swimming is one of the hardest sports in the world, I don't know why anyone would think it's easy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

http://www.amirite.net/109897 :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The people who say it's easy have probably only played in the pool. Thats very far from swimming as a sport.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

same as tennis! ihate when people rag on it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't even understand how some people could think 'just running' is easy...An easy day in cross-country is what other sports give out as punishments

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same thing with dance.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dance can definitely be difficult, but this post is talking about sports.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and dance is definetily a sport

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How can it be a sport if there is no way to score people? Judges dot count because that's arbitrary.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sport -noun: an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature. Dancing can be competitive. Dance-offs, battles, competitions, etc. And it requires skill (try the splits) and it is a physical sport. I think that fits the definition. Sports don't require scoring, but even so, dancers get scores. You're just being a troll.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You clearly don't know what a troll is. And I believe that sports do require point scoring.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

troll -noun: One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. I said I thought you were being a troll. Just trying to get a rise out of dancers. And no. Sports do NOT require scoring. Dancing is a sport. Judges do score us btw. And it counts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As I said before, I don't think that judge scoring counts because it's an opinion. And I'm clearly not a troll because I'm respectfully disagreeing with your opinion, not purposefully posting stuff to get negative votes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

legaly? You do need a set scoring system.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We have judges who score us. And that's what they have in gymnastics. I suppose gymnastics isn't a sport either? Neither is ice skating?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dance is a sport, just like swimming, gymnastics, ice skating, and martial arts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

dance is an art, not a sport.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's both.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What pisses me off is when people say things like "Pshh, Trap isn't a sport. All you have to do is point a gun and shoot it."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marching Band is pretty hard, even though it may not be a sport

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I speedskate hockey players always say they can go as fast oh really you can skate thirty miles an hour for three minutes straight " well if I had speedskates" if you had speedskates you would chop your own feet off in ten seconds

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But hockey is a different sport than speedskating. And you're being a hypocrite and saying that hockey players don't own up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well challenges have been made none excepted I used to play hockey and I do respect it as a sport

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I play street hockey when I'm bored [[like with my friends]] and it's already tough. I can't imagine being on ice. And speedskating..... I won't even go there. I respect most sports.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah! I horseback ride and people are like "thats not a sport" oh yeah? break your hand trying to punch my abs and then think about how much of a sport it is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

For the sake of mankind, please learn when to use "your" vs. "you're", OP.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"rowing isn't that hard!" wtf. I had thought it was clear to everyone what a tough sport it is... Apparently not

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a cheerleader. I compete for my team and we travel all over. People don't see it as being tough but it really is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(cheer4mia): Cheerleading is not a sport! The federal court proved it! Sure it's tough, but it's not a sport. Democracy Rules! http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/07/21/federal-court-rules-cheerleading-sport/@694208

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this debate could go on forever, so i wont continue much longer. i just must say that it IS sport, and its become increasingly popular lately. its a combination of sports, so doesn't that make it a sport?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you read the article, the court ruled it doesn't qualify as a sport. "Today, however, the activity is still too underdeveloped and disorganized to be treated as offering genuine varsity athletic participation opportunities for students."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

underdeveloped? competitions are held all over the U.S. Disorganized? try coming to the ORGANIZED everyday practice and weekly organized competitions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I only attend sporting events... and this wasn't my ruling, this was the federal courts ruling. I'm just quoting people

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Netball is HARD. Everyone always bitches about it.. Hm. But I'm not sure if you play it in the US.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We don't, but I've played it, since one of my best friends is Australian. It's harder than it looks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never heard anyone say it's easy, so I don't know where OP has gotten that from. I can't even imagine anyone saying, since pretty much everyone has tried swimming fast.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Swimming is one of the only sports that requires the use of every muscle.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People rag on golf all the time. It takes physical (carying a 60 pound bag around for 3-6 hours) and mental strength (its really hard to read lies and golf involves LOTS of thinking). It can actually be quite hard, and i would k ow because ive been playingfor around 5 yeard

Wanna try cross-country?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(YES.): I'm not saying running isn't hard, but swimming is probably the closest thing to running, and we have to pull ourselves through WATER and hold our breath when we do laps. So yeah swimming is more difficult. No offense to cross country....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Try crew it's a hard sport even if you sit down in the boat.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Swimming is the hardest sport I've ever played. You have to use every single part of your body, and is completely exhausting,

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pretty much. My friend used to play football for my school, then he came to swim team and said one time that swimming is a lot harder. Go swimmers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

swimming is the hardest fucking sport there is. and i've done swimming, tennis, cross country, soccer, and basketball.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a swimmer :) it's a LOT of work. but I love it so much :) I'm also one of the most fit people in my grade, THANKS SWIMMING.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I just got back from swim practice, and this made my day! everyone thinks I'm crazy when I say practice is hard, but I'd like to see them swim a 500 free!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah! Or the mile :p

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(RowenaRavenclaw and reeree: 500 & 1650 baby!! Thats an event to kick your butt. I definatly have a love-hate relationship with the 500. The mile is hard but it just bores me though :) And I think every sport can be really hard, or super easy. It depends on how serious you are about and how much work you put into it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ya, every sport I've done is fairly tough, but swimming, the one that people say is wimpy, was the hardest(others were tennis, soccer and basketball).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marching band. A lot harder than people think, that is, if done correctly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marching Band. Gotta love it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Water Polo is another difficult sport that we should give props to- even when nothing is happening around you, you still have to be constantly treading and usually fighting a bit against your player, and its harder to handle the ball in the water than people might think.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what about everyones opinion on synchronized swimming?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats actually what I was thinking as I was reading the comments! I dont do Synchronized swimming, but I swim and play polo, and know that Synchro would be extremly hard

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think that synchro would be really hard, I am a competitive swimmer but yeah, synchro looks hard

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I mean, wow! There's so much treading and such in synchro, it makes me hurt just thinking about it. Iv'e never done it, but it looks really hard. Plus, its like a dance routine in the water. Ouch.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, it seems like it would take a lot of skill to do what they do.
