+546 I'm fine with not wanting to mix religion with school, but once Christmas break becomes "Non denominational winter holiday" break, it's been taken too far, amirite?

I'm an atheist and I think it's taking it too far. We get two freaking weeks off school, who cares what it's called? Just be happy and enjoy christmas (or whatever non-denominational holiday) with your family

omgsh yes that makes me so mad!!! i hate political correctness

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea I don't see why they can't just say Christmas break or winter break...

christmas is a CHRISTIAN holiday so i dont see why people get so offended. actually, ive never even seen someone who gets offended when people call it christmas break. that's why we get off of school, FOR christmas.

Well, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa happen at the same time, so Jews and whoever celebrates Kwanzaa. While I agree there's no point in not calling it Christmas break, since no Jew I've ever met gave a damn, it's not the entire reason people get off school.

Lol, did you get "Non denominational winter holiday" from Community?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, people have to say happy holidays at places of work these days because some people complain, or they do it to prevent complaining

I'm Hindu and honestly, I don't give a crap. I'll start caring when they start saying "Jesus' Birthday Break", or "I bet you wish you had holidays, Atheists"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Honestly most people of different religions don't care if Catholics call it christmas or say "merry christmas" and i wouldn't care if a Jewish person said 'happy hanukkah" i'd be like: Right on! Mostly it's the extreme atheists that are trying to create all this political correctness when most religious people could care less.

it doesnt matter what and individual person calls it. idc if a person says christmas break. but if the school starts saying "enjoy your christmas break" or "christmas break is coming up" then its a bit offensive to people who dont celebrate christmas. whats wrong with calling it "winter break" ?

It's just an example of how schools are becoming too politically correct. Everything you do seems to offend somebody, and people can't seem to deal with it anymore.

political correctness can go to hell. its christmas, no matter if you celebrate christmas or not.
