+533 People should adopt pets instead of buying them from pet stores. Animal rescues are over filled with unwanted animals and sometimes they get so crowded that they have to put innocent animals down while people continue to buy from pet stores that get their animals from pet mills which are really filthy and cruel. ADOPT! amirite?

But then you can't get puppies...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sure you can, some pet rescues have puppies.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Adopt!): Yeah but I want a hamster.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can get that at pet rescues too

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Adopt!): Yeah but they only live for a few years, most of their life would be over by the times I adopted them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't now too much about how long hamsters live for, but you can find some young hamsters at pet rescues. Just keep looking around and you'll find one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Adopt!): I'll buy a hamster from the pet store, but I'll buy dogs from the rescue. Happy?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you want to buy a young new hamster and don't want to go to a rescue, you can try a private breeder. They take way better care of their hamsters than a pet store would.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Adopt!): And they're probably a lot more expencive...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not always, but some are, but consider this. A hamster from a Pet store might be cheeper, but there's more chance they won't be as healthy. Also a rescue usually isn't in for the money, so they sell their animals for really cheap.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Adopt!): Besides, if at the pet store they're living us squaler and despare, wouldn't it be good to "rescue" them from the pet store?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's what a lot of people think, that by buying them from the horrible conditions of the pet store that they are "saving" them, but really, it makes it worse. If you buy an animal from a pet store, they will just buy a new one and as long as people keep "rescuing" them from the pet stores, the problem becomes worse. The pet stores will keep buying new ones, but if no one buys the animals, they won't bother to buy new ones.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(adopt!): I'ven never seen hamsters at rescues.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I doubt you could even take care of an animal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My family has 3 dogs, I take care of 2 of them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ever though I agree, you really shouldn't campane on this site.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Even though I agree, you really shouldn't misspell on this site. *Campaign, *Even.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, Amish_Pancakes you're a douche bag.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do you know what douche means? It's means shower in French. A shower bag? I don't think so

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In America, a douche bag is a vagina cleaner. Way better insult than 'shower'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, I think I should do that since I'm planning on getting a cat.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wrote my 5th grade persuassive essay about how people shouldn't get dogs from pet stores.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well if everyone just starts to adopt pets from animal shelters then what's going to happen for the poor animals in the pet stores?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd rather buy from a pet store to get the animal to only know me as it's owner. Being in a shelter, who knows how they feel about humans and what they have been through. Plus they are cuter.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Overall, It doesn't matter where they came from or what their past is. All pets need love <3

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Amen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It gave my brian whiplash to see a sensitive comment with the response "Amen." and then see that it was from the Joker.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So what do you think would happen if we all decided to buy pets from shelters? The pets in the stores will still be there. No matter where you buy them there are always going to be pets that need a home.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was at my local pet store just looking at the puppies with my friend, and he told me about how pet stores aren't as good as adoption centers, and the owner heard him, and gave him so much shit. Moral of the story: People at pet stores are dicks, go adopt your pets.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm all for adopting at animal shelters, but I get why people wouldnt want to. Where I live all of the shelters have VERY strict requirements and most families wanting to adopt froma a shelter simply cannot because they didn't meet the requirements. For example, you cannot adopt a dog if your family has a child under the age of eleven, where I live at least. But that's just my experience, sooo yah. Always check shelters first though

You can't adopt fish...?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Absolutely, I get all my dogs from shelters :)
