+786 Disney channel and nickelodeon are getting pretty stereotypical. I have glasses and braces: this automatically means that I mean socially retarded, have no friends, and am annoying as hell. People wonder why these types of kids get bullied.... amirite?

Wow. This post really makes sense. :o

What shows present those stereotypes?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't really watch those channels but when I do, I see some examples. The Nick and Disney channel movies, too.

Freddy is the camera man on iCarly so he's all nerdy, Carl from Jimmy Neutron has red hair, braces, is fat, and has asthma so he's a nerd.

And that girl who always went "Amanda please", In According to Ginger (I think that's what it's called...) they were basically all nerds.

Or if you have glasses and braces, you are beyond nerdy looking, don't know what style and fashion is and you are the most annoying smart-person out there. Damn I hate stereotypes.

i have light blonde hair and wear makeup, this means at my school: im the super popular cheerleader that everybody loves to hate, and im mean and extremely self-centred, my boyfriend is captain of the football team, he has big muscles and is very good looking and i wish every night to be like the quiet girl with brown hair and not many friends because she's so much nicer than me..

As much as I hate stereotypes D: There's this girl at my high school who fits this description EXACTLY. I'm a usually nice person, but she keeps following me and my friends around and hanging around us, when I never invited her in the first place.. It can really get on your nerves D: anyone got any advice on how to nicely tell her off? ._.

Tell her she's ugly

Make plans to chill at the bottom of the ocean with your friends while she's around and then don't show up.

People like that got bullied before the Disney channel.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, but it's probably contributing to it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Being bullied isn't about how people with similar characteristics to you are portrayed in media, they get bullied because they are different, the TV characters were taken from //real life// stereotypes and not the other way around.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Let's blame Disney for the fact that you get bullied...

And gingers tend to be utter dumbasses. Not sure if that fits the "real world" stereotype, but the gingers I remember on disney are fucking stupid.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It doesn't fit the "real world" stereotype.
