+208 All of this "Follow your dreams" stuff is bullshit. Without natural talent, you are going to fail, no matter how hard you work. To find true happiness in life you have to find something that you're already good at, and that you enjoy. The trick is finding something that is both, amirite?

Some people find real happiness while pursuing happiness, AKA their dreams. Most of the time the journey itself can give you more joy than actually only achiveiving it.

(Viper+Pit+-,..,-): Well some people are happy with barely getting along, too.

Then.. why hasn't Justin Beiber failed yet?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because he's a lucky shit, that's why. And people who think they can just get to where he's at by "working hard" aren't going to get there.

really, he got lucky? I wasn't aware he won a lottery, I thought he got noticed by putting videos of himself singing on YouTube

I try to explain this to people, and then everyone thinks I'm a bitch...

Can't agree with this one. There are tons of accomplished musicians these days that didn't have a natural talent for what they do now, but got good through rigorous practice. This post is almost telling the human race to be lazy. What's wrong with practicing something? Are you saying every person in every position in the world was already good at what they did? You'd be wrong.

you can't just naturally be an expert at playing an instrument...you need to learn how to read sheet music and how to play it before you can be good at it. People aren't born with this knowledge.

But some people pick it up much easier than others. And try as you might, if you don't have some natural talent with it, you'll never be great (good maybe, but not great). Also, some people are just bad at stuff, no matter how much they work on it (I'm terrible at math but I passed it fairly well in high school because I studied hard, other people can just pick it up quickly and easily).

If people want to believe this, fine. It's less people I have to compete with, I guess.
