+446 If Twilight was about wizards, then you can compare the two. But they are about totally different subjects. The only thing alike about them is the authors made millions, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They are both fantasy fiction series, therefore very comparable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah, but it's pointless about comparing them. i mean, wizards and vampires are not real, their plots follow the SAME PLOT LIKE IN EVERY OTHER BOOK (must defeat villain), and the authors made millions...like i said. i think its pointless...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

God isn't real but people still compare religious beliefs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

twilight is worse than harry potter, yes, but comparing those two is just stupid.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why do you think that Twilight and Harry Potter are poor works of literature? And why do you think drawing comparisons between two pieces of literature from the same genre stupid/pointless?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

because TWILIGHT is about VAMPIRES. HARRY POTTER is about WIZARDS. there is absolutely no parallel between vampires and wizards.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They are both fantasy characters...that's the parallel. And you can draw comparisons between any two things, however alike or unlike they are. It doesn't matter. But anyways, Pringles.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

vampires are immortal and suck blood. wizards don't suck blood but are immortal as well. and pringles. :-)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what the heck made you think wizards are immortal?! i agree they are completely comparable both fantasy but one is better (written, made into movie, just all round better) we never said they were comparing the actually plots just the quality of it (HARRY POTTER BEATS ALL! :P)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Twilight is a teen romance, not a fantasy fiction like Harry Potter

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Werewolves and vampires are not fantasy characters?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are no werewolves in Twilight, they are shape-shifters. I never said they weren't, but Twilight is still classified as a teen romance.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's actually classified as a fantasy romance novel.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, but Harry Potter is not a romance novel, therefore they can't be properly compared.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, yes they can. Pringles.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pringles? Seriously, they can't. It's like comparing a cell phone and an iPod. They are two different things, therefore they will have different pro's and con's.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They CAN, but they SHOULDN'T.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I disagree that they're the same genre, and furthermore they're not even the same level of literature(though I cringe to apply that word to Twilight). The Harry Potter series will still be popularly read among kids for ages to come, much like The Chronicles of Narnia or even The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Twilight Saga is poorly-written crap that future's teenagers won't even notice... it'll be replaced by some other disposable crap. It's like comparing the Beatles to Lady Gaga... both musicians, both with popular music, but NOT comparable.

*the future's

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They both have annoying obsesive fans.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Almost ANY piece of fiction has annoying obsesive fans.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can really compare any book to another book beacuse the thing is THEY'RE BOTH BOOKS. They're both insanley popular therefore people feel the need to compare them beacuse they're so close.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I compare the writing style. HP was more enticing, thrilling, had a lot more themes involved, etc. Twilight was kind of repetitive and very whiny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't say I'm a fan of Twilight, but I don't look at Harry Potter and say "Wow. That's an incredibly well written book. The wording was just fantastic" While it's true, yes, I grew up with Harry Potter and I will always be a fan of it, I just can't say that JK Rowling should be commended for her writing style.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I appreciate the wording. IMO, that's part of the story. You can feel the excitement and anticipation in some parts, the fear in others, and the anger. If books just have a uniform sound or a sound with few variations in the mood, I get so bored. That's why I hated Great Expectations

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, man! Lord of the Rings and Twilight aren't even in the same league.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I just wish this whole Harry Potter vs. Twilight battle would end. I mean really, I don't know why it matters. To be fair, people can compare absolutely anything they want to with reason, as long as they have proof to back it up. But in all honesty, I'm so sick of hearing about it. They're two very different stories done by two very different authors, who have obviously had very different experiences in life and therefore different styles of writing. I think that all authors should have their work judged fairly because really, there are a number of factors that come in to play when it comes to comparing novels. I allow that Twilight was rather "whiny" in style, and the language was very young, but Harry Potter had its faults too. I speak as a fan of both series', and neither one is EXACTLY the best ever. My point is, people need to calm their shit about comparing novels to others because in some cases, though it works, it isn't necessarily fair.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You type to much.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sometimes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Both of them being fantasy doesn't mean they have to be compared. Imagine trying to compare Lord of the Rings and Twilight. They're both in entirely different worlds. Twilight is a romance novel. Harry Potter isn't. I think that's the main difference, and why they can't really be compared.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Both are terrible series of books with crazy obsessive fans that annoy the shit out of everyone. There's your comparasion

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never understood them being compared, either. Though, they are both a fantasy series, they're completely different fantasy series.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes thankyou. It's like comparing having a pet with your ability to put on socks fast.
