+224 It'd be nice if all the classic books we had/have to read in high school, like To Kill a Mockingbird or Catcher in the Rye, had footnotes at the end of each chapter that would summarize the main points, amirite?

But what about books like Into the Wild that Sparknotes doesn't have? Then the footnotes would be convienent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Into the Wild is 80 pages long. Gimme a break.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually it's 201 pages long.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Barnes And Noble Classics version is 83 pages with slightly smaller than average print. You're print must be huge.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, the print is normal sized. I had to read it for school. I don't think it's the first edition because the author said in it that he put more information in it after the original was released, or something like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What an ass, you don't add on to a classic. It's not right. On that note you shouldn't have had to even touch that book, because it is most likely ruined.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Apparently there is also one that is 320 pages. (Look at Google Books for Into The Wild). I think I probably would have liked the original, short book better

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought it was great, and I had to read it for school.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The movie adaptation is pretty close to the book. But Into the Wild is a great book. It's a whole lot better than Huckleberry Finn or The Scarlet Letter.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I haven't read The Scarlet Letter, but I think Into The Wild is just as bad as Huck Finn.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Scarlet Letter is possibly the worst book you'll ever have to read, if you ever have to read it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm going to have to read it most likely next year. My friends said it was good, so I'm going to trust them because they have the same taste I do in books.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Huckleberry Finn is a horrible book, we are reading it now in school. We have only gotten to the 21st chapter

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hated it so much. Lol I passed the tests over it by reading Sparknotes

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lolz, yeah and my teacher keeps saying they speak like that because he is trying to right from a 11 year olds piont of view, but come on no 11 year old talks like that

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think the uneducated 11 year old from that time period does, though. Maybe not 11 year olds today, but the ones like Huck who didn't go to school and such.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah maybe, but I seriously don't think so if he had hung around educated grown ups,

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought he tried his best to make the ladies he lived with frustrated or something, but I may be wrong. I know that he hung out with Tom Sawyer who had just as bad grammar as Huck did. But just because he hung around with them doesn't mean he picked up on educated talk, which is similar to the slaves. The slaves were uneducated, hung around (usually) proper people (their masters) and still had bad grammar.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, you are right. I just really don't like their speak. It makes me mad trying to read it, Especially when Jim talked 'cause it's even more different than Huck talking

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, their speech frustrated me a lot, but it was somewhat better when I read it aloud.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeha, In your head it just sounds like gibberish, at least to me

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Me too

by Anonymous 12 years ago

haha, why are you posted as anonymous? I want to follow you

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't want people to think I was stupid, lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh, your not stupid if you don't like a certain book

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well I mainly went anonymous for my first comment about Into The Wild

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh, aha, what is that book about

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's about Chris McCandless and how he donated 24k to charity and travelled across the western states for a couple years and ultimately went to the Alaskan bush to survive, but he ate moldy seeds and died. I didn't like the book at all.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It sounds boring too

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It kind of was. A few years ago my sister had to read it for college, and I tried reading it, but I hated it. Then we had to read it over Christmas break. Lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol that's ironic

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It was! Haha

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lolz, at your school ya'll have to read books over christmas break?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yep. Half of Huck Finn over fall break, too. And most likely we'll have to read a novel over spring break.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow I've never heard of that the most we have to read on our free time is during summer break

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow, lucky! Well, we never have to read over summer break, but we have at least 2 weeks for fall, spring, and Christmas breaks, so I think that's why we usually have to read a novel over each of them

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, probably. I like to read, so reading in itself wouldn't bother as apposed to what i was reading

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I like to read too, I just don't like being told what to read then taking a test over it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

haha, I know right! I'd rather read my own things, though some times I like to take tests cause i want to see what i know

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't really like to take tests over books. But I mean, I will if I have to lol. You should message me sometime ~

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lol, ok I'll message you :) though i dont really know how to work the mobile site

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I remember having to read The Outsiders.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hated that book.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I actually loved that book, and I usually hate reading for school.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I liked that book

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It wasn't that bad, but the movie was terrible.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Scarlet Letter -.-
