I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that a large number of celebrities advocating donations to a certain charity aren't donating anything themselves. Hypocrisy. Unfortunately, it's much more common than you might think.

Most celebrities who endorse charities do personally send money to them, only they keep enough to maintain their quality of life. Just like you've become accustomed to the Internet, and wouldn't donate so much you couldn't afford it, they're accustomed to, say, $3000 purses, and choose to do the same.

They obviously donate a ton of money themselves. It's not like they can give every single penny they earn, either. Celebrities are popular and they know it. So, in addition to giving what they have, they encourage their fans to donate too. Do you realize how much more money that is? I know of a celebrity who sold things he's kept from his band, things extremely important to him, and sold them. There were about 15-20 pieces, selling from 2,000-35,000 dollars each. In addition to him giving his own money. He does something along these lines every time something like the Haiti, Chile, and Japan disasters happen. He's SO selfish, giving away sentimental personal belongings for the well being of others. And don't tell me you would do the same now. Because you wouldn't. Honestly, think about it. Imagine giving away your most sentimental things. In addition to hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's not like he's SUPER wealthy either. Admit it. You wouldn't do it.

I don't know where you're getting this from. Justin Bieber donated a million, Rebecca Black donated nearly a million, some other person (Katy Perry or someone like that) donated a million. (To Japan)
