+159 Committing adultery should be illegal, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How would that even be enforced?...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In some Islam extremist countries it is illegal. They kill/stone/shoot a woman who commits adultery. What happens to a man? Nothing How do they know a woman commits adultery? Man's word. -Men will lie about this in order to "divorce", as divorce is illegal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So if it was illegal in america, we'd be no better than TERRORISTS! Good point.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(:D): We would not. Thank you for pointing that out. (btw I didn't connect Islam and terrorism but that's Okay)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(:D): You are ignorant.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha it's so adorable how ignorant you are on Shariah law! If the man commits adultery, he is also stoned to death, just like if the woman commits adultery. There needs to be 4 witnesses to testify to the act in order for the penalty to come to affect. And if the wife/husband wrongly accuses their spouse of cheating, that person who wrongly accused gets 80 lashes for accusing and creating a whole spectacle about it. Go read something authentic instead of turning on FOX news.

That doesn't happen in any Islamic Country. There are regions within the country where that happens but no that doesn't happen. I've been to most of them and woman are not stoned to death they are just seen as whores and if a man does it he's seen as a pig. Both people don't suffer physically but mentally because they know what everyone thinks of them.

Just like our digestive system hasn't evolved for the food of today, and heart disease, etc is the result...our brains haven't evolved to be committed to one person when our genes/hormones are screaming spread your DNA. Its just a part of being human that couples need to be aware of and act accordingly (be more accepting/work on personal control)

no

You must be a cheater.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aint no law gonna tell me who how many people I can have sex with.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In sum, I don't care what other people do. However, if a guy is with me, then he's WITH ME. And I make that very clear from the beginning. That's not to say I own him. If he wants to sleep around - fine - but he can do that with someone else as I therefore would not want a relationship with him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My sentiments exactly! If you wanna sleep around, fine, but you'll be without me if you want to do that. Being in a relationship means being committed to someone and if they don't want to commit then it's as simple as ending the relationship.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

With marriage, definitely. Dating, well, people make mistakes and a relationship isn't always as binding/rarely as serious as being married. By the time you're married you should have been committed enough to even propose/accept. If you need sex so bad, ask your spouse.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess having to deal with STDs, divorce papers and an extremely pissed off spouse isn't bad enough, eh?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not really.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I could see sooooooo many problems with this and how it would be enforced. People should sort out their own problems in a relationship, it's not upto the law.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are some people who have open marriages. That would be restricting those people, and Americans need not be restricted by law any further.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In Egypt, it is technically illegal, and if prosecuted, it could lead to up to three years imprisonment for the man/woman (I don't know exactly how they decide). This law is almost never enforced and people still commit adultery normally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well I'm all for it. I'm on the receiving end of what adultery can do to a family. It's not fun.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same here, but it's life and I got over it, a lot of people do it, even if they are committed. Sometimes the temptation is just too much. But, of course, i'm not okay with people having like two girlfriends or crap like that, that's just messed up. And making it illegal would be dumb personnally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am sure throwing people in jail will solve all your problems and make you feel better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Adultery is technically illegal in most states. I don't know if it is enforced though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I find that really hard to believe. Source?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd just like to point out that adultery also includes having sex with ANYONE you're not married to (fiance, girlfriend/boyfriend). Cheating on a spouse should be illegal but adultery is OK

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about open relationships?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's the couples own personal, private business, not something for the government to enforce.
