In iOS 4. You double click the home button and slide the bar to the right.

I have an iPhone 4. This app is good because it doesn't turn! I figured out how to text though, turn it on its side until it flips, the rotate it again so your phone is upside down while you're lying down. The text doesn't flip completely upside down so it'll stay sideways while you are! Not sure how to lock anything though
