+232 We've all had a scary moment in an argument with our parent where they raised their arm to hit you, amirite?

And then they hit you.

Nacht, my mom would only hit me if I did something horrible, like got her really pissed and then told her she was an ugly lesbian or something. Which she isn't. :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That would never fly in my house. lmao. I've gotten slapped once for having a MySpace (which they got over after a while), and the second time for talking back. Ah, I hate my parents.

My moms a bit of a hippie, so I'd really have to piss her off. Anything beyond saying the word "shit" in an argument will usually build up to it. xD

I love hippies. : P

You're kidding right? You hate your parents for beating you twice?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's terrible that most people agreed with this. No matter how angry, my parents would never even think of raising their hand to hit me. Even if they don't follow through, that's terrible...

thats the problem. when parents could hit their children (not abuse) without it being a big deal, the children stayed in line. i know my mom spanked me a couple times, and ill be damned if i ever did what she told me not to again. it works. i turned out fine.

I don't think it's right to "hit" your kids, like across the face or anything, but I think spanking is appropriate till theyre like 5 or something because then it's kind of awkward imo.

My mom's smaller than me. She stopped hitting me when I was old enough to know to hit 'er back.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My parents usually don't raise their arm, they push me or grab my arm or something. I've only been actually slapped by my parents once in my life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My father and I have too calm of conversation for that, and my mother is afraid of my temper. Last time she hit me in anger I almost broke her wrist (she punched me in the face), and never gets past yelling any more.

i'm surprised by all these comments. my parents have never so much as raised their arms

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Reading all this comments is weird. I thought it was rare for parents NOT to do that, but I guess it's more common, which is a good thing

Eh, I always used reasoning to talk them out of it. I was like "If you hit me, you'll never forgive yourself. Is what I've done bad enough that you physically hurt the child you used sweat and tears to raise? This child that loves you and is only a child and therefore is human and makes mistakes that she'll learn from?" haha. Maybe that was a bit exaggerated. But I was a good convincer when it came down to it. Talking works in my family.

awww, i love this comment :D

haha im trying to memorize this XD

Whenever they raise their hand like to hit me, I always like jump back and give them these huge, terrified eyes like 'what? what're you doing??' and then I act skittish around them later, which they get all mad about like I'm being dramatic, but I think it really gets to them.

my parent would never even think of spanking me.

a few hits with a belt made me learn my lesson haha
