The word 'awful' should mean 'full of awe', amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
It DOES. Most people think awe just means an overwhelming feeling when you see something grand, like "I stared in awe at the grand canyon." Awe can also mean an overwhelming feeling of fear or dread, like "I looked in awe as the petition was torn up." Awful means bad or horrible and would work well with the word awe. I even looked it up in a dictionary because I was curious, the 4th definition of awful is, "full of awe; reverential."
