Holiday comes from Holy Day. Since there are a bunch of Holy Days during winter break, they just call it the Holidays. Easter isnt a gift giving holiday but its still a holiday.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well they call it the holidays where I am because we actually have the summer holidays right now.

Actually Hanukkah was like 3 weeks before Christmas this year but since Jewish holidays follow the lunar calendar rather than the solar calendar when it is varies pretty widely on our calendar

Seriously! I was watching TV this morning and they had a bunch of animals that they were letting the news anchors pet to promote conservation or whatever, and they bring out a reindeer and one of them says "well it wouldn't be the holidays without a reindeer". No you idiot, it wouldn't be CHRISTMAS without a reindeer, the Jews couldn't care less.
