+393 It doesn't help the gay cause when a show, such as Glee, creates a gay character comprised of every possible gay stereotype, such as being flamboyant, feminine, into decorating, etc., amirite?

And then one that's feminine but still likes some guy stuff (Blaine), and a guy that's totally in the closet but he's so homophobic there's no way you'd believe he's gay (Karofsky or however you spell it). But you still have a point.

True. Glee just happened to be the first show that came to mind, but I'm also referring to any show that does the same.

The whole show is based on stereotypes. Ever notice that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, like the above person said about them all being stereotypes. But I'm happy that the show is willing to show a gay person as a character. I guess it's supporting gay rights. Have you seen the religion episode when his dad was in the hospital?

Ever seen Degrassi?

Well, the football player is gay too and he's a total jock but I see your point

Oops, I wrote close to the same thing My bad, sorry!!

Yeah, Kurt exists in the show, but that shouldn't "hurt the gay cause". People should be accepting no matter what "level" of gay they express.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, they do have a gay character who acts stereotypically gay, but they also have a gay jock, and a gay guy who is basically just a everyday Joe. Which shows that not all gay people act the same.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have a point, but obviously some gay people really are like that. That's where the stereotypes come from.

This is the third post about gayness in a row. What a coincidence.

Blaine is certainly less stereotypical than Kurt.
