+322 People freak out about Miley Cyrus and her "growing up" because it's like she doesn't understand that she's a role model to little children. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I feel bad for celebrities like her. She's just doing normal things and making choices - albeit, not always good ones - that many people her age do. It's a lot of pressure to have to act perfect simply because people want you to be a role model. Honestly, it's not her fault that she's casting off a bad image. It's the media's fault for scrutinizing every single decision that she makes.

I agree but she never should have started doing children's songs and a children's tv show if she wasn't gonna follow through and be a good role model.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

she got the part when she was 11. do you really think she thought ahead 7 years and said 'you know what, im gonna do this for a while, then go in a completely different direction' ? do you expect her to be singing songs like hannah montana into her 20's? as i've said before, if the kid's parents won't tell them what's right and wrong, it's not miley cyrus' job to tell them. it's the parents fault.

She made the choice at 11, but also stuck with it for 7 years. If she did the show for a few years, then quit and waited until she wasn't a huge star and role model to young kids before she went in the opposite direction, it wouldn't be such a big deal. How do parents explain to a young kid that there role model suddenly isn't a good person, it would confuse many kids. She can be different but should have done it differently. Faded from the limelight and role model role before she decided to 'grow up' like she did.

shes not going to give up a great career for the kids, shes not going to put off growing up for the show

by Anonymous 13 years ago

She doesn't have too. But she has to realize if she wants that career, as Hannah Montana and a preformer for kids age 7-13, she can't go around acting like she is. If she wants to grow up that is fine, but at least make responcible choices for the kids she influences. If she wants to be a slut and try drugs, her choice, and she could do it in private. And before you say as a mega-star it is hard to find privacy, there are ways to get it. It is hard, but part of the choice you make when you become famous. You can't complain that you don't want people watching you and looking up to you and still want to be a star in the public eye. Being an influence and little to no privacy comes with it, deal with it and be responcible or find a way to do it in private.

would you do what you're asking her to do? quit your job, wait a few years then resume it to spare the children? that would be millions lost. i wouldnt do it, and i wouldnt expect her to.

I can guarantee you my 5 year old knows the difference between right and wrong. If a parent does their job to begin with there shouldn't have to be any explaining in why their 'role model' is now 'bad'. That child should be able to see that person is making bad decisions. It isn't miley cirus' job to raise someone else' kids.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No but after she decided to quit the childrens shows and songs she knew that she was still a role model for the children so she should have been more responsible at least until she didn't have so much attention and hype.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do pity her in that sense, because she's acting her age but she get's all this media attention because well...she's Miley Cyrus. It's the price of fame, but of course she didn't realize that she didn't want to do this when she was 12. If she wasn't famous, no one would care if she smoked bong or not, or the image that she gives to her audience of 7 year olds watching Hannah Montana.

She made the transition from Disney star to mega-slut without realizing that her fan-base was still 7-13 year old girls. Dumb whore.

if parents are really concerned with her influencing their kids, how about they filter what their kids can see. if parents are good enough at parenting to care about what their children are watching/listening to, then i think they can handle controlling it.

She's 18 years old. If you're teaching your children to look up to an 18 year old as a role model, you're a moron. 18 year olds are still little kids, even if the law says otherwise. They still have a TON to learn, before almost ANYONE, much less an entire country, can reasonable expect her to be a role model. Also, who said she had to be a role model in the first place? She wanted to sing and act, so she did it. Now she's being herself. If she was going around to schools telling kids how awesome it is to do hard drugs or drink and drive, then we'd have something to talk about. However, as she is doing NOTHING of the sort, it's time for all those who whine about her "behavior" to get your head out of your ass , realize that she's a human like everyone else and is going to make mistakes. Guess what? It's YOUR job to parent your own damn kids, not some girl who doesn't even know your "precious little snowflakes" exist. Deal with it, or fuck off.

It seems that MLIA-ers hate her for the wrong reasons.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Parents should be role models for their kids. Also, I'm pretty sure there aren't any 12 year olds doing salvia for the sole reason that Miley did it..please.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm seventeen and I've never had the desire to smoke bongs or dress in slutty bird costumes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Tbh that's NOT how you grow up...Yeah maybe she likes to have fun and every teenager has a different definition of fun but still...She's aware that the media follows her every step and she should have known that when she entered show business...And don't say that she was too young her parents could've taught her that...There are a lot of teenage celebrities that have grown up on camera and refrained themselves from doing stupid things everyone could see..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i have seen magazine articles talking shit about her wearing a bikini, if that doesnt show its way blown up idk what does. shes 18, shes allowed to smoke salvia. shes 18, shes allowed to have a tattoo. but you know what every 7 year old in the world is going to go to the smoke shop and somehow have the money for salvia and somehow have the money for a bong and theyre gonna do it, and get tattoos, and pole dance, and wear bikinis. she DID know that when she entered the buisness, what makes you think she didnt? she just doesntcare about watching her actions and doing what she wants to do for the precious snowflakes she doesnt know. theres a lot of teen celebrities that refrained themselves from doing something stupid everyone could see? but you admit, theyve done something stupid. and SERIOUSLY most teen celebrities *dont* refrain from doing something everybody can see, the ones who dont are the minority. her parents could have taught her what? that the media follow

by Anonymous 13 years ago

s her around? like i said she knows she just DOESNT CARE. what, your parents are just the greatest and youve never done anything bad ever? that is "growing up" my friend, and shes legally allowed to do everything shes done so you really have no argument to say she shouldnt be doing it.
