-305 What’s the point of the History Channel? I mean really? Who’s flipping though the channels and is like: “YES! A documentary on the French Revolution!”? amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I WOULD, "those who forget history are doomed to repeat it," Y'know?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly, history is important! And interesting, you just look at the name and think 'oh, the french revolution, so boring.' like you know what it's about, or what happened...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree, but you must remember the past accurately. Use the real quote from now on. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" - George Santayana

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You should know that the quote has been said by more people then just George Santayana in many variations :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True. Very true. You, for example, just said a variation of it. Does that mean I can quote it now?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, I guess if you really wanted to.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nice to see someone who's a good sport. :) I like this quote: "Those who misquote George Santayana are condemned to paraphrase him"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love the history channel, it's much more interesting than the garbage they have on MTV.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

agreed, its much better than fucking Jersey Shore or whatever kind of shit people watch these days.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Too many geeks in this place to get a high vote on this post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I no wayed this but i found it funny so i also favorited it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HEY, I actually enjoy watching History Channel shows on the French Revolution! And I love when they have themed days. Like, JFK conspiracies or money.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think the documentires on things like the holocaust and mass death are most interesting... Don't know what that says about me personally...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

because it sounds a hell of a lot better than bridalplasty and jersey shore.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I saw a commercial for that "Bridalplasty" and thought "What the hell is wrong with these people? Don't they know that you have to love yourself before you can love another" I seriously wanted to cry

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What's bridalplasty?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's a show where girls who are about to get married (or are already married) compete in challenges to win whatever plastic surgery they want to get done. The girl who lasts to the end (they get to vote each other off) not only completes every plastic surgery operation she wants done, but gets her dream wedding/vacation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wtf? That's so stupid!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's kinda like how there's this new "weight loss" show called Shedding for the Wedding. It's like the Biggest Loser. It's further fueling the thought that you need to be a size 2 at your wedding or else you can't be considered a beautiful bride.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...*facepalm*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like M*A*S*H, pawstars and American pickers, and I watch the occasional movie and themed shows

by Anonymous 13 years ago

pawnstars is pretty awesome, i have to admit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love all the awesome stuff they bring through the store, even if the show is obviously scripted

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like watching documentaries on the Vietnam War and the Gulf War...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Although some documentaries are really interesting, they sometimes focus too much on the boring sides of interesting stories.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love shows on the French Revolution. What's better than a show that involves people rioting on the Bastille with heads on pikes? But then again, I'm one of those people who would rather watch a test pattern than to see who Snookie wants smoosh smoosh with this week.

(Manifest Destiny): BASTILLE DAY IS ON MY BIRTHDAY.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm watching the history chanel right now. A documentary on Winston Churchill and it's quite intresting. History is important!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like the History Channel, it helps a lot when I have to do a paper on something :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahaha you just described my dad perfectly

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's pretty much a summary of my weekends. But, then again, I'm a history major in college.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I actually find these things quite interesting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm only 15 and I watch the History Channel by choice. Some of the shows are really fascinating. Especially any Burns documentary. And the French Revolution was pretty cool, despite (or possibly because of) the Reign of Terror.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Rose Weasley): I think people of all ages watch it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They show a lot of interesting things on the history channel though. Like...a documentary on Gallelio Galleli (sorry, fail spelling) and I love American Pickers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@TicTacAddict I celebrate your birthday every year. I'm the daughter of French Immigrants living in an Irish community. I'm trying to make my holiday better than there's. They drive snakes into the sea, we chop of the heads of the bourgeois! I shall eat a petit four in your honor every year from now on.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually that is exactly what I would do. Especially if it were the French Revolution, hahaha
