If skin color doesn't matter, why did everyone go crazy when Obama was elected, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Cause we disagree with his political tactics.

But everyone was like "OH THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT! OH YES HE IS AFRICAN AMERICAN!" but why does that make any difference than having a white president? I know quite a few people who only voted him JUST because he is black. It isn't right

It's not right.
Some people voted for him to NOT be racist
Some voted for him because they wanted a black president
It doesn't matter, but some people are just....ugh.
by Anonymous13 years ago
and people accused him of being from the middle east and therefore being a communist muslim terrorist whatever... as if all muslims are terrorists in the first place....
by Anonymous13 years ago
wait a second...a BLACK man is president? WHY...THAT'S
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because it represented the first time Americans accepted an African American as their president, something that would have been a virtual impossibility thirty years ago.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No one should care what ethnicity is though.

skin color matters to a ton of people
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because it showed that skin color no longer matters to the majority of Americans
by Anonymous13 years ago
I didn't go crazy. I think it's kind of insulting, though, that people assume just because he was black, black people voted for him solely for this reason. It's like we're incapable of considering the issues. He's half white; did white people vote for him, just because they were partly of the same race?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Explain, then, why 95% of African-Americans voted for Obama. Clearly there was bias in the way they voted.
by Anonymous13 years ago
There is a reason that there is only a handful of black republican.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can think of as many Republican African American politicians as Democrat.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That, in my opinion, is one of the only reasons he got elected. And by reading these comments, Im clearly not alone.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're right, he definitely only won the election because he was black. I mean, his charisma, his youth, his agenda, his platform of change, his predecessor, his opponent, and his opponent's VP candidate had absolutely nothing to do with his victory.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No no no Im not saying that was the only reason, however I feel like it was a major component. Hearing the way that the people I were with talked about him, it just seemed as if that was one of the major reasons. But I dont want to argue, especially over a website with someone I dont know. We have different opinions and ways of seeing things, so I think we should leave it at that :)

Have you ever taken a course in History or Social Studies?

Skin color actually does matter. It shouldn't, but it does. Welcome to America.
