+394 It's weird when a book is in the first person, but we're supposed to wonder if the character will make it out alive. Of course they will, what's going to happen; They "say then he shot me" and the book ends? amirite?

*say, "then he shot me"

I've read a few books where it was pulled off brilliantly. Before I Die is one that I'm reading right now, but there's been quite a few.

they could continue from "the afterlife" or heaven..or hell.

Or it could be in present tense (like the hunger games).

There's a difference between past and present tense and point of view.

That would actually be pretty cool

i think 'then he shot me' is actually a really dramatic way to end a book...you can get away with it if it's been leading up to it for ages and the tension is really high. In my opinion anyways.

That's what happens in The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. It ends with "I closed my eyes."

Try reading "The Lovely Bones". It's 1st person but (twist!) main character is already dead.

That's different. the character is already dead, that's not the same as telling the story from alive, then telling it as you're dead.
