+639 How to get laid: Lay on bed. Wait 2 hours. Lay becomes past tense, amirite?

Lololololololol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That would be "layed".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, it wouldn't. Well, wait. Yeah, i guess it would be wrong, and should be "lay" not laid. OP said "lay" on a bed, but he meant "LIE" on a bed. And the past of lie is "lay." And the past of "lay" is "laid." So confusing! http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/lay-versus-lie.aspx

It's a confusing word.

Well I think technically, when you say "lie" you're talking about saying something untrue. Lay is the present tense of the thing you do when you sleep. :P (I'm trying to explain without saying lay or lie) And then laid is the past tense of lay. Lied is the past tense of lie, but that means the type of lie you tell.

No... You're just.... ono

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, I'm just repeating what I've been told before.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well you've been told completely incorrectly. Read my link.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, I just read it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Right. "Lay" is never applicable to a human (who isn't bound or dead). Lie is only applicable to things capable of moving on their own.

Why 2 hours?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

To make it official..? Didn't you know? It takes approximately 2 hours for all present tense verbs to morph into past tense verbs. In that time they go through the transformation. Kids these days...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahaha. [: "To make it official" -> i like it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You could wait 1 second and it would be past tense....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Don't dissect the joke! The idea is funny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Problem, horny people? *trollface*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Even if that was right (it's LIE not LAY, and LAY not LAID) it would be having laid, not getting laid. Simple grammar.
