Why are they called 'redheads' if their hair is actually orange? amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Why do they call black people black when they are acually brown
by Anonymous13 years ago
I guess people today are just colorfully challenged.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Haha Yeah I guess so
by Anonymous13 years ago
same thing with white people. How many people are actually white? they are more of a peachy color
by Anonymous12 years ago
I like ginger, sounds nicer.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Simple, people are stupid. People with orange hair are gingers, and people with red hair are redheads

I have wondered this ever since I was just a young one.

Seeing as you're a rock, I'm gonna go ahead and guess it's been hundreds of years since you were a young one.

Apparently a lot of languages group colours together (I don't have a source, but I remember reading it somewhere).
Like, we usually just call light blue and dark blue "blue", even though the colours are quite different (and there's a billion shades of blue) and some languages have one word for orange, red and pink.
So, I dunno, maybe when the slang for orange-haired people came into the English language, it wasn't changed.

Because orangehead sounds like you are some sort of human-fruit hybrid.
by Anonymous12 years ago
because fuck you thats why

My brother always got pissed off when we called his hair red

I've got bright orange hair and people always call me carrot top. This is even more stupid than getting called a redhead because carrot tops are freaking green.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That is true.
by Anonymous12 years ago
They mean that the top or your head looks like a carrot. Not the top of a carrot.
