+133 You would read a book that was on a 'banned book list' just for the fact that someone tried to ban it, just to be rebellious, amirite?

Don't they keep some sort of record on people who do that, just in case they commit some sort or crime?

reading banned books, you mean? it isnt a federal offense to read banned books. its just appealing because it is a slap in the face to fundamentalist organizations like the moral majority who try to take excellent books from a nation of children.

yes, that is what I mean, and do they keep a record on people who read the banned books? Because I know they do for Hitlers book. I wasn't asking if it was a federal offense.

yeah, i dont think so... not for books that get banned all the time, like huck finn or to kill a mockingbird or the catcher in the rye. maybe for mein kampf? i dont even know/. i own a copy of it, but i dont think they like took my name down when i bought it at barnes & noble. o.O this is all wiki says about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_kampf#Current_availability

hmm maybe it depends on where you live, my brother owns that book and they have a record on him. I was just wondering if they did that for all banned books.

For a project in English during my freshman year in high school we had to pick a banned book to read. That is how I discovered Kurt Vonnegut.
