by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ap is for dumbasses. Try IB

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not all schools offer IB ya' nub.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well Ap really doesn't help you at all. There is probably at least one IB school in each state. I live in the worst educated state in the nation and we have 2.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I actually looked it up, and a lot of people said AP is more helpful.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly: there are not many in each state. That means that very few people can take IB. There is only one school that I've heard as IB in my city and it's extremely expensive. So if our school doesn't have IB, at least we take the hardest we can...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My school (the best school in the state, I might add) doesn't offer IB, but it offers AP, which also counts for college credit. Not sure what IB is for actually...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in the best educated state in the nation and didn't know that IB existed until a couple of months ago.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

IB and AP classes are usually the same thing. All the ones at my school are labeled as Ib/AP (course). Plus IB is so restricting course wise that you get the same education by only taking AP's but with it actually tailored to fit you the best.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Psssh, someone clearly hasn't been exposed to IB kids. By the way, IB kids complain about EE, IAs, TOK, CAS, and everything else, but we will defend the program to death. http://www.mylifeisib.co.cc/2731/defending-ib-from-the-heretics-of-ap

by Anonymous 13 years ago

most of my friends are IB kids. It may be different at other schools, but at my school all the the AP are also IB classes. We have a few classes that are just IB not AP but non-IB'ers students can take them as well. Pretty much the only non IB classes I'm taking are my two electives because the IB program wouldn't let me. So i'm pretty much an IB kid except for the fact that I get out of the end IB exams and have more freedom for my schedule. So I do understand how it works.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I so wanted to say this myself. I got the diploma, but it nearly killed me. And I took AP classes as electives. We all did.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I take the IB but it's the only thing offered at my school, and I go to an international school (I live in China) so there really isn't much choice for schools, so my school is the only one I can go to...but I wanna go to the US for college. I always assumed the IB was like a regular high school program that everyone did, is it really more difficult than the American high school system?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes

by Anonymous 13 years ago

:D thats suchhh a major relief.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I take both, am i fucked next year?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

if only i was told this when i was making up my schedule last year.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I always felt AP was less of a workload than Honors classes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

at my school those are the same thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh but its not. I use my honors classes to catch up on sleep that my AP classes make me miss :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

~ness

by Anonymous 13 years ago

AHAHAHA I GET IT! :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Apparently, I'm one of the few white girls who weren't afraid to take AP for all core classes at my school this year...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As opposed to asian girls?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Only the ditzy ones were worried.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I did too. -high five-

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I lied. One of them is an honors class, but it's still pretty difficult. Luckily though my teacher for that class hardly takes grades, and when he does he usually isn't too picky.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My math class is honors, but it's much more difficult for me than my AP classes. It's def. my weakest subject.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oddly, my chem class is more difficult, and it's only honors. Probably because that teacher is crazy, and this is the first year the AP class I'm taking is offered, so my teacher is clueless.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I only took AP Psychology in high school since honors classes were my thing. AP Psych was amazing. Not too much work, but then again, I findthe subject fascinating and I had an amazing teacher. Heard APUSH, AP Chem and AP Calc were intense though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

fun story: i'm in apush, ap chem, ap calc (bc) AND physics this year x_X

by Anonymous 13 years ago

APUSH sucks, at least with my teacher. I was bad at Calc, so... my opinion is biased, but I hated that too. AP stats, however, is much better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

APUSH was one of my favourite AP classes! I did better in the AP class then I did in regular honors U.S History. D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I take all AP classes. I barely sleep anymore... Haha I love this post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True words. :) And, I've only had one AP class so far. I can't wait for Calc next year. >.>

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Calculus made me want to kill myself. I dropped it last semester and now they've locked the AP Calculus class in, so no one can drop it anymore. People have been freaking out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh God that's scary, considering Trig makes me want to kill myself about now. Maybe I should consider having a back up math class, then...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish there was a hell yeah you are button. AP is torture sometimes!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

taking 2 APs Chem and US and sleep is barely part of my vocabulary anymore

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I took six APs my grad year. It actually wasn't that bad. In fact, I've never slacked off so much before in my life. The only issue was my teachers were mostly incompetent, so when the exams came closer, I just stopped going to school for several days and studied at home and caught up on my sleep.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Having a sucky senior year was worth the AP credits and firm understanding of calculus entering college.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreed, although I didn't get any credits :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Taking an AP Euro history class this year, AP Computer science, AP Chemistry, AP Designing Programs, AP VB, AP English 11, and APUSH. 5.0, here I come.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Took AP Bio, wasn't that bad. Wasn't that good, but I wasn't pulling my hair out. Now I'm taking AP Euro and Art, and I want to crawl in a hole and die. ;-;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"yellowing of the skin" You turn asian?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, you just develop asian like qualities.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

IB is way more demanding

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Really? I take the IB but it's the only thing offered at my school...I go to an international school in China. Here everyone thinks you're a complete failure if you end up having to drop to the certificate (only 2 people ever have from my school)...I always figured the IB was on like the same level as all other high school systems, so I completely stressed out when I got a 5 on a test once. I want to go to college in the US, but is the IB really more difficult than American high school courses? If it is then I'll be a lot less worried about getting into college :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I took a combination of Dual Enrollment and AP classes my senior year. While AP was a helluva lot harder, DE actually prepared me better for college, seeing as I was actually taking college courses at the local university.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

AP is a lot harder than IB. Ive taken both. AP was so much more worth it though, but it usually depends on the teachers. Just take the best teachers at your school and you will get the best education, regardless of the class title.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

AP ART HISTORY IS AWESOME

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You Americans sure speak a funny language... We don't have all these crazy options.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know about other schools, but the AP classes at my school are (not formally, but it's noticeably) split into two categories (there is definitely some grey area, but the difference is definitely there); the real AP classes and the fake AP classes. The real AP classes are what you expect; really difficult and stuff. The fake AP classes are definitely harder than the regular classes, but they're really not too hard. At my school:Fake AP classes: AP Junior English, AP Senior English, AP Statistics, AP US Government.Real AP classes: AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Spanish (and maybe AP French, not sure though). There is no IB at my school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There doesn't seem to be AP classes or equivalent in my school. :( (Ireland sucks. :P)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm taking 4 APs (Calc AB, (i'm bad at math) Spanish Lit., Physics B, and English Lit.) and I only lose an average of 2 hours of sleep per night. Then again, the teachers don't give that much homework as compared to my last year schedule.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

amen

by Anonymous 13 years ago

May cause? I think you meant "will with out a doubt cause"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol studying for apush right now.
