You don't consider Florida and Hawaii your traditional "southern" states. amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Florida... Is not in the south.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yes it is...did you forget your Never Eat Soggy Waffles?!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Jesus, I'm an idiot. I meant Hawaii....
by Anonymous13 years ago
i barely count hawaii as a state...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ouch, but I guess I see what you mean about Hawaii not being much of a state. We are pretty far away from the other states.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're just envious that you're from a shitty southern state and not a cool state like Hawaii.
by Anonymous13 years ago
wisconsin is a southern state? really? i think not
by Anonymous13 years ago
Wisconsin is still shittier than Hawaii.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Florida, yes. I live here and there's an odd mix of guys who wish they were "country" and old people who sneer at everything people my age do.
Hawaii isn't geographically near what we refer to as the "Deep South" in the US, so I don't even know why it was mentioned in this post.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ever been to northern Florida? You might change your mind
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's because Florida is made up of old people who used to live in New York.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I live in Mississippi... I have never really thought of florida as southern but I guess it is come to think of it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I guess FL is technically the south but it's not the same as states like Alabama or Georgia.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Hawai'i is the southern most state in the country, but we're in the Pacific, or the Western states. Not Southern. Although we have our fair share of rednecks here.

Lol, I once had a conversation with someone from the US, who argued with me when I used "Southerners" to describe people from the South Island of New Zealand.
I pointed out that the US wasn't the only country in existence, and therefore wasn't the other country with a South region that had residents nicknamed "Southerners", and that I've never heard someone from the US say "Southern US" or "US Southerners", therefore I shouldn't have to constantly be expected to say "NZ Southerners" after I'd already stated it once.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I live in the South Island of New Zealand and I've never heard anyone call someone else a "southerner"...
by Anonymous13 years ago
But you called us in the North "Northerner", correct?
by Anonymous13 years ago
At least I haven't heard of it, no, sorry...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm from central Florida. Everyone agrees that we aren't really anything. We aren't exactly northern, not exactly southern. It's because so many people moved here to avoid the cold. There are some places that are more southern though.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Me too. Winter Park Florida is more a New England town than a southern one.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Cuz they aren't southern
by Anonymous13 years ago
Thats because A) Hawaii wasn't really added as a state until recently (history wise) and they are there own little island, not part of a section. and b) Florida had it's own issues being annexed as a territory from the Spanish in the first place it missed out on the start of sectionalism and was its own special little region for a long time.
