Birth scenes must be as awkward to film as they are to watch, amirite?

Man, I had this friend that really wanted to catch a real birth for the ending of his film. He spent about 4 months asking everyone he met if they know any pregnant ladies to no avail, but finally found someone willing to let him film the whole thing. (though, to be fair, from a certain angle, and only him, without the lights and other props).
He never talks about it, but you just know he hated spending a few hours watching a woman in labour. It was a good movie though.
