+245 Conservatives say that the government is "too big" and "interfering in people's personal lives" by taxing them and providing health care...but what is more invasive in people's personal lives than telling them whom they can and can't marry and whether or not they can get an abortion? amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

conservatives also say my dick is too big

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Conservatives LOVE government interference when it legislates morality... they LOVE making it illegal to do things only they think are "wrong". They only want the government to butt out when it limits big business from exploiting people and making more money at the expense of our environment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I used to be a Republican, but I quit for the reasons the OP stated. Now I am a libertarian because I want less government interference in everything.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know, I hate this guy and I really want to kill him. However, the government is butting into my personal life by not allowing that, and that bothers me. They just interfere too damn much.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Perhaps you should find out what being a Libertarian actually means before you make stupid assumptions- of course, murder would still be illegal if we had a Libertarian government. Basically, the party platform states that the federal government should exist to protect the liberties of it's citizens, and would take any other powers away and put them back in the hands of the people. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't want that, except lazy morons who want the government to take care of them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was pointing out the use of everything... I'm just being a smartass (or dumbass?), take a joke.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's funny how stereotypical people can be against conservatives without any information.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's funny how stereotypical conservatives accuse their critics of not having any information, whether they do or not- meaning they themselves are the ones who don't know what they're talking about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't know what kind of views I have! Someone once told me' they thought all conservatives loved war and didn't care about the earth! And most people I speak to usually are very stereotypical. Yeah because I really want to see innocent soldiers die and our earth being destroyed. *sarcasm* Ill informed people need to know what is coming out of their mouth.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow. I never knew this post said "All conservatives believe in...." Instead I thought it said what it actually said; many conservatives believe in "..." even though they believe in "...." which sets a double standard. And that's true, many conservatives follow these standards; enough to have a post made about it. It's funny how people over react when a post is made against them. it's also funny how the more the post applies to them, the more they are to over react.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

liberals on this site a pretty much straight up idiots. gay marriage is at the bottom of any conservatives' "give a shit" list

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe you should tell that to all the asshole religious freaks with the "god hates fags" signs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

WBC beliefs =/= GOP's beliefs. By the way, haven't you ever heard of the Log Cabin Republicans?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Perhaps the GOP should stop standing in the way of equal rights for gays then, if they don't believe that. And yes, I watch American Dad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the Log Cabin Republicans can't do shit due to it's lack of public notoriety. At the end of the day, the Majority of Republican politicians in the house and senate are against gay marriage. Many against gays. If Republicans controlled the senate and the house, gay marriage would be banned and rights would slowly diminish. Have a problem with that? Take it up it the republicans so many vote for.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's why all of these issues should be left to the states, like they have been in the past. They're not in the scope of federal government's responsibilities. Tenth Amendment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I believe in gay marriage, but it's no one's "right" to kill an innocent baby.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do not believe in the government's "right" to control the lives and bodies of women and I also don't believe in the government's "right" to determine who marries whom.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're right, women do have rights. And they are in control of their bodies. So maybe they should use that control to not have sex. And I completely support gay marriage, yes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe they should use that right, maybe they shouldn't. But the whole point of having rights is being able to choose whether or not to take advantage of it! I'm all for women making responsible choices. However, I think women should be the ones making responsible choices, not the government.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would hope that all women would make the responsible choice, but the fact is that they don't. And I won't stand for the death of a child just because they choose not to be responsible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The issue of the legality of abortion is not a question of whether or not the woman should get an abortion- it's a question of who should decide whether or not the woman should get an abortion. Personally, I beleive that the woman whose future is at stake is far better suited to determine the best option than a group of bureaucrats who don't know anything about her situation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, it is a question of morals, and the rights of the child.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The legality of abortion is a legal issue to be determined in courts in accordance with laws. The morality of abortion is a moral issue that is to be resolved by individuals in accordance with their beliefs. I don't care whether you think abortion can be moral in some situations or not. But it is important to recognize that abortion is legal and must continue to be legal in order to preserve the rights and autonomy of individuals, even if it means we not recognizing the "rights" (which don't exist) of the "child" (which also doesn't also doesn't exist yet).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is the governments job to protect the lives of innocent children, who do in fact exist, thank you. Coming from someone who was nearly aborted I want to know where the rights so many people would have denied me were.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree that it is the government's job to protect innocent children but that includes protecting innocent children from the physical, psychological, and emotional damage that premature motherhood can cause. It is also the governments job to protect innocent women which means protecting their rights and their autonomy. It is not the government's job to tell me whether or not I should have a child, what medical services I should get, how many kids I can have, when I should start a family, and what I do with my vagina.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's hardly an innocent woman. Every woman knows going into it that they can get pregnant. And you're right, it's not the governments job to tell you to do any of those things until it endangers the life of another human being. I'm sorry, but a human being is much more important than a 16 year olds party life style. And it is the governments job to protect innocent children from physical, psychological, and emotional damage. That's why we have Child Protective Services.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Having sex doesn't mean you're not innocent. At least where I live, having sex is not a felony. I don't know why you are talking about a sixteen year old's party life. I thought we were talking about the liberty, welfare, and happiness of all citizens. The government can't claim to protect children if it forces children to give birth against their will. Abortion needs to be available if we want to preserve the freedom of the citizens of this country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Freedom? You want to talk about freedom? Then let's talk about America's promise of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. You are stealing all of that from a helpless American child when you support abortion. And we're not forcing them to have children! We're forcing them to think twice about their actions. If they don't have sex, they won't have children. It's that simple, really, it is. But unfortunately we as a nation have lowered our standards and accept underage sex as apart of everyday life, and while I don't support it, you obviously can't control it. However, we can control whether or not a life will be lost because of it. And I was talking about a sixteen year old's party life because unfortunately the cause of the vast majority of abortions is because the baby poses an inconvenience to the mother's life style. That definitely does not justify the death of a human being.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate it how people assume that every woman who wants an abortion is an immoral drunk sixteen year old. That's not the case at all. All different types of women get abortions: young, old, married, unmarried, nice, mean, whatever. I guess when people think all women who get abortions are worthless immoral "sluts" they don't feel bad when they strip them of their constitutional rights and infringe upon their ability to get an education and a career. It's kind of sad how people don't seem to care about crushing the dreams of thousands of desperate women because they are too concerned with the existence of a conscious-less clump of cells. People who sacrifice the liberty and autonomy of all the women of the nation in order to preserve a pink squishy thing that looks like a tadpole really need to sort out their priorities.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...but that "pink squishy" tadpole is a human being...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It has human DNA but it's still in the mother's domain.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You don't get it, do you? These women did it to themselves, and unfortunately, if you look at the statistics, yes, most people who are getting an abortion are getting them because the baby is inconvenient to the mothers lifestyle. And I'd like you to know that a fetus isn't a conscious-less clump of cells. In fact, they are conscious. They can feel, they can think, they have hearts and they follow the 6 characteristics of a human being. Haven't you ever felt a baby kicking when it's talked to? So I'm sorry if I can't justify the murder of a BABY over some woman's selfish wish to take the easy way out of her mistakes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry for replying like a year late. Women get abortions for tons of reasons from economic problems to health problems to wanting a better career. http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/abortion/abreasons.html When most pregnancies occur, early in the first trimester the fetus is not very developed and lacks the capacity to feel pain. But that is irrelevant. It's not selfish to chose not to be a mother. It's every woman's right to make that choice for herself.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol. At the end of the day, requiring government to outlaw or stop something is government interference. No matter how much it is needed, it's still government interference. So now that it's established that Conservatives in general require government interference as mush as Liberals, why is there still the "Liberals are big government Conservatives are not" bull shit that you obviously believe in(hence your vote on this post)? You must love double standards. You're either a hypocrite that knows so little in politics that you still believe in something that isn't true, or you're a Conservative.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not all conservatives are against gay marriage, and abortion should be banned because it's MURDER. And murder is illegal.
