Strange thought: what would a voice with no accent sound like? amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Nothing.
Even a computer/Stephen Hawking-ish thing has an accent.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Like a robot. The closest accent to robot is American though, just flat and dull.
by Anonymous13 years ago
it's impossible to speak without an accent.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Actually people in high positions in England I've heard need to get rid of their accent, like the Queen. she needs to learn perfect English.
This is just what I've heard though.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The queen speaks with an accent, she has quite a cool one at that. Don't quote things you read on wikipedia, because chances are it isn't true
by Anonymous13 years ago
did I say I read it on wikipedia? I just said I've heard it, don't get butthurt if I'm wrong.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I just wanted to mention wikipedia In a comment, I didn't actually mean It
by Anonymous13 years ago
that troll was right, you are a faggot.
by Anonymous13 years ago
And who the fuck might you be? At least have the balls not to go anon.
by Anonymous13 years ago
you just wanted to mention wikipedia in a comment? that's just... http://myfacewhen.com/58/
by Anonymous13 years ago
Haha I see you win this round
by Anonymous13 years ago
I love pulling that out. even when it's not needed :p
by Anonymous13 years ago
It was the last thing I was expecting
by Anonymous13 years ago
Accents are relative... If someone speaks differently than you, you say they have an accent, but they say you have an accent. This is only possible if everyone spoke exactly the same way.
by Anonymous13 years ago
This is like asking what a person would look like without a body.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah but a body/person is a tangible thing, so the concept of a voice with no accent is harder to grasp.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's an analogy. I'm not comparing voice and body, but the concept of something being without its most important part. A house without walls would also be an example, or a painting without colours, or a song without pitches.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I know and voted your comment up, I'm just saying it's more of a mindfuck-type thing
by Anonymous13 years ago
They would sound like nothing, because it's impossible!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Hypothetically, wouldn't no accent be what the language is like when it is first created in its entirety?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I think I've heard somewhere that the voices of American's and Canadian's is the base of any accent. So, technically, you could consider American and Canadian accents not even accents. If that makes sense?
by Anonymous13 years ago
but wasn't christopher columbus italian? and then a lot of british convicts were sent over too, i'm pretty sure. same with australia. and a whole shitload of other countries. so, no. sorry :)
by Anonymous13 years ago
WTH
If there was a "base" for accents (PROTIP: there isn't), then, ignoring the millions of years human beings have been speaking, you'd have to trace the English language back to England before the countries that were colonised by England. And then you could trace England back to Ancient Greek and Roman civilisations.

First, these homophobic slurs are NOT okay. This is 2011. Why we still have prejudice is beyond me.
Also, the Pacific Northwest accent is commonly referred to as being "accentless". Which is pretty boring when you live in Seattle. Like I do. -.-'
by Anonymous13 years ago
No accent would be pronouncing words exactly likeit sounds in the dictionary. People in the Midwest in America Are often considered to have no accent.
