+338 You've wasted years of your life trying to blend in and be popular, and somewhere along the way realized that the best thing to do is to be diffrent. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not different. Yourself.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

being yourself is being diffrent from everyone else

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Yeah but not always. Like say a bunch of people all like the color red and you do too but you decide you don't because you want to be "different". What kind of logic is that? If you like red you do. No matter if other people like it or not.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It's not spelled "diffrent" it's different.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe they're trying to be "diffrent". Still, that's no excuse. no

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nope, I've never wanted to be popular. I've always liked the things that weren't what everyone else liked because I didn't want to be a "prep". And also because a lot of times what the popular people like isn't that cool; for example UGG boots. Those were so ugly. But anyway, you don't need to be popular to have a ton of awesome friends.

Yeah, all the "cool" people in my high school were always high and ditching class and stuff. I just wanted to have a good time with my friends. We weren't really weird either, like how some people purposely act different for the sake of being different. We were just us and that was great.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm slightly weird, but not on purpose. But yeah.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Same. I'm just me and I generally try not to care what other people think.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Absolute hipster prat right here!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yes but they are Uggs are super comfortable. I'm pretty sure thats why people wear them, not because they think it makes their feet look nice.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not when they get soggy from the snow.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't purposely act different, I just act the way I would, and that IS usually different. If I'm popular, awesome, but I'm not going to change myself so I can be popular as someone I'm not. So I guess I get what you're saying, but I've never even tried to be someone but myself. Does that make sense?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I never wanted to blend in and be popular... I was happy with my friends.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Being "different" usually just involves defying what everyone else does, and there is a whole group of people that do that called hipsters. The best thing to do is just do what makes you happy, and disregard whether or not it is different from what others are doing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or you could just do what you want. The whole "be yourself and don't care about what others think" goes both ways, you know. Not only should you not do something soley because it's popular, but you shouldn't NOT do something just because it's popular, either. It's not about being "different", it's about "do what you love, and fuck the rest."

I wouldn't call it wasting time... everyone wants to fit in and it's all in the process of finding yourself. I was always trying to blend in and I sometimes still do. But I go to a school where I do fit in naturally, and as a result I've been able to discover more stuff about me that I couldn't see before because I was too busy trying to be someone else. So, it's sort of a necessary part of life; it's all about finding the right crowd, or the place you belong. That sounded like something straight out of Seventeen, haha
