I don't know why people are agreeing with this. It is in no way illegal to take pictures of anyone or anything in public. It's not even illegal to take pictures of people in their own house as long as you are not trespassing (e.g taking pictures from the street.) It's also not illegal to take pictures of people in somewhere like a nightclub, though the owner of the premises can demand you leave or refuse entry. This is just a blatantly inaccurate statement. The only grey area is taking pictures of children. Depending on the circumstances, images of children can be deemed of a sexual nature, which is definitely illegal.
