+411 Sometimes you wonder if the cakes on shows like Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes taste half as good as they look, amirite?

Every time I see the guys on Cake Boss use rice krispie treats instead of cake I get angry. I DIDNT ASK FOR RICE KRISPIE COVERED IN FONDANT. I ASKED FOR CAKE, MAN, CAKE. That's the name of the show. Cake Boss. Not Rice Krispie boss.

Some of the not-so-famous cake designers (That still have tv shows, just aren't as big as cake boss) Don't use fondant. They use modeling chocolate (Which is supposed to taste a lot better then Fondant) Jussayin

A friend of mine had a cake from Cake Boss and they said it wasn't that great..

do you know what it cost? i've always wondered.

I'm not sure, I would assume it depends on the size of the cake, decorations, etc. either way it's probably a buttload.

Don't think they're supposed to taste good. The huge cakes are decorations basically. I think the cakes and pastries they don't make all fancy taste good.

I bet you that they really suck. The buttercream they use is probably SUPER sweet (which is gross) and because of how thick they make the fondant, it probably makes it even grosser. Plus, I'm pretty sure both use American cake recipes, which are also very sugary. My mom makes cakes for a living and she uses European based recipes, puts half the sugar in all her buttercreams, and doesn't put that think of fondant on the cakes.

I'm sure they'd taste fine, if it was actually cake. They're mostly just rice krispy and fondant, and as cool as they look, I don't think it's worth hundreds of dollars to buy anything less than delicious.

It'll just taste like cake. It's the decor that people want from it.
