oh the ads. like how people complain about vevo? yeah, but the way i see it is, vevo/youtube/google are providing us with free entertainment. we can watch music videos, vlogs, films, etc. etc. for free, so they have a right to put up ads because how else would they make money? people should just be happy they have access to all this stuff without having to pay.

yeah, I know, I'm just pointing out what changed when Google took over. Ads have never really gotten to me, the only ones I don't like are the ones that pop up on the video while you're watching it.

@1051378 (adam): Google RESCUED YouTube. YouTube was losing millions of dollars and was ready to shut down before they bought it out and saved it with those ads. It needs those to run, but only a highly profitable company like Google could have actually taken it over in the first place. Bandwidth costs money, and a video site uses a lot of it; do you think they put ads up for the fun of it? Also I don't think many people even remember what YouTube was like in the short time before Google took it over (like 5 years ago)... needless to say it was a lot crappier.

Ads still suck.

A site with ads is better than one that doesn't exist... it's safe to say YouTube would have ceased to exist a long time ago without them. Also, I hardly ever see YouTube ads... I don't know if the Adblock extension blocks them or if the videos I watch don't usually have them, but they really don't seem bad at all to me.

They didn't just "mess up" YouTube, they bent it over and raped it! I don't really mind the ads (though those pre rolls are incredibly annoying and probably unnecessary) but its design is absolutely terrible. Though that's just my opinion.

Google didn't mess up YouTube; Vevo did.
