+412 It's perfectly ok to make choices based on whether or not your parents would approve, but, dammit, sometimes you have to take risks and piss them off in order to be your own person, amirite?

Amen to that! (scared mom and dad will see this)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree that you have to take risks, but it isn't integral to being your own person.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It can be, especially if you're allowing your desire for parental approval to control all of your choices.

Well that all depends on the situation. It goes both ways. If you're doing something to be you, that's great. But if you're doing it solely for the reason that you want to do something your parents disapprove of, it's just disrespectful. I base most of my decisions with the knowledge in mind that I'm thankful for my parents feeding and bringing me up.

I suppose my wording wasn't very clear in the post. I meant that you have to think for yourself and make your own choices, even though some of those are bound to piss off your parents. I didn't mean making those choices for the sake of pissing them off.

No you were clear in the post. I knew what you meant, I was just clarifying a bit on my case. my first comment was kind of vague lol.

9 holes in one ear, 7 in the other. Parents-..... Piercing my eyebrow myself, 3 times(kept taking it out) parents-your face is going to get paralyzed. Nose. P-its gonna get infected. Lip. p-thats real intelligent. Tattoo. Mom-how much did you pay for it? Mike woulda done it free. Dad-(first time showing him) oh, hello, kitty. (Every time him seeing after) you have a tattoo? Hello, kitty. Along with loads of laughing thinking he's clever. I give up trying to be rebellious.

ahahaha I could imagine my parents doing that. I've broken windows and not even been punished at my dads house, and I haven't been scolded once over my trancies, even though I have so many I have to go to court.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what are trancies?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago
