I don't find it confusing how to spell it. I am just suggesting maybe why people would find it confusing.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I've seen that too. My only theory is that "women" and "woman" sound more alike than "men" and "man". I know it sounds silly, since if you pronounce them correctly they don't, but when people are talking they tend to pronouce certain words lazily.
