+228 Why do you have to "lose" something when you have sex for the first time? It should be called something more positive, like "gaining sex," amirite?

You lose the innocence of never having had sex. It's kind of a big deal in some religions.

It's a very decent point. The first time having sex (particularly for a female) as an extremely big occurance of emotional upheaval. It is the transition in which a girl becomes a woman, both physically and mentally - it could be argued. And for both males AND females, it really shows the point in which innocence is left behind and more 'adult' characteristics are taken on instead. It's only apt that you should be 'losing' something when you have sex for the first time. Of course, the counter argument is that sex is fuckin' awesome, and for that reason I am of the belief the phrase 'losing your virginity' should be replaced with 'getting yo' cool points' or 'earning your stripes' YEAH!

I say I "gave" my virginity to my boyfriend. It sounds cheesy as shit but I don't see it as a "loss" and I haven't come up with a better term yet. I gained a dick in my box?
