this is merely an inflamitory statement from a user hiding behind an anonymous screen.

Religion is a system of simple answers for simple minds.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I dont believe in god but i personly dont think its a bad thing it gives people false hope which for the most part isnt bad

by Anonymous 14 years ago

1st of all- religion was created so that people could make themselves believe that when they die, someone will love them when in reality they're just going into the ground. also so that people knew what was right and wrong, creating a sense of law and order. 2nd- i agree with you. The story of Jonah and the Whale is total bullshit. How in the hell did a guy survive in the belly of a whale?! Also the immaculate conception is impossible. seriously. A virgin CANNOT have her eggo get preggo. Unless she lied. Which Mary did but never admitted to it.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

All religions are cults and they just brainwash you.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

There's nothing wrong with believing in God, it gives people hope, at least that is its purpose, no matter how distorted it has become over the centuries. I'm sure that's "brainwash" for you. Ha.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Is it really so hard to except whats going on in life and be a strong enough person to cope with your shit rather than talking to a somewhat imaginary friend. And look at suicide bombers, they do that for their religion. If thats not brainwashing I don't know what is.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

A man getting swallowed by a whale has happened, and he has returned from it's stomach. Granted, he was practically albino by then, and survived on the contents of that whales stomach. Do your research before stating something that is false. As for Mary, if it were in Gods will for her to get preggers- than it can happen. Religion consists of belief and faith. Faith and hope are to very different things. Thus, no soup for you(: Most religions are indeed a system of rules and regulations, but- Christianity is more guidelines. He allows for free will so that we are not a kinematic. I personally do not belong to a religion. But I am in a relationship with the God. Because that is what Christianity is.

so do you kill homos? sell virgins as slaves and kill non virgins? kill anyone who works on sundays(and not just paying jobs) think its shameful for a woman to speak? think slavery is ok and it is ok to beat them if they don't die withing 2 days? That is what Christianity really is, not those repetitive stories the priest's pick and choose every damn mass

by Anonymous 14 years ago

(o@101359 (Anonymous): you have a very distorted view of Christianity. i'm sorry.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

On the contrary I don't think their view is distorted at all. It is those who follow christianity who's view is distorted.

That was the Law set forth in the Old Testament. Jesus forgave us and set us free from the bondage of the law. Jesus ate with prostitutes and tax collectors, because his purpose is to forgive and love everyone. The Law was created so that we would know what sin is, and forgiveness was given once we all knew that we were sinners. Jesus, when a woman was brought before him who was accused of adultery, said 'let him without sin throw the first stone' and everyone left. He came to forgive us. I cannot say that enough. THAT's what Christianity Really is.

Dude, religion is a touchy subject. It's better to avoid it.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

If there was no religion people would be themselfs :) thats the world i wanna live in :)

I'm talking about Christianity, not the Muslim faith. And yeah, people can get through things themselves, but like you have any right to tell someone they shouldn't believe God can help them through things with faith. You're a genius, unicorn.

I voted no, because fairy tales are usually more interesting and relevant to my life, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It really fucks me off when people shove flyers at you, trying to get you to go to their church. It always makes me think, "I don't care if you're religious, doesn't bother me... but when you pester me about it, I want to punch you really bloody hard in the face." It's not like I go around telling people to stop believing in God just because I'm an atheist, so it would be nice if they let others believe, or not believe, in whatever they want. I could go on and on about this...

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Are you honestly deranged? If you knew anything you would know that it is a given not to kill people. It is a given not to discriminate. And it is a given not to sell people! I don't know why you would assume that it is what I, as a Christian would do. Maybe you should read your bible and gets your facts straight. Jesus did not support any of those things. Honestly. If you can't support your own faith, religion, even beliefs, where does that leave you?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Answer me this, what does faith, religion, and beliefs do for you that science, and common knowledge can't do for you?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I don't believe in evolution.. 1. Your beliefs and faith are in some sort of science. 2. My beliefs and faith are in my God. 3. Anybody is open to that relationship. Does that help?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

0_0 you don't believe in evolution? really? wow. just wow. -_-

by Anonymous 14 years ago

That's what I'm saying.. Haha. Like I said, we all have our beliefs. King Kong is not my grandpa. .

by Anonymous 14 years ago

If you knew anything about evolution we didn't evolve from apes, we just have a common ancestor. *FACEPALM*

by Anonymous 14 years ago

you're dumb *FACEPALM*

I was simply being sarcastic, trying to lighten the conversation, because it seems to be getting nowhere but in a circle... I just want you to know why I have decided living for God. He gives me hope that I will go somewhere after I die. The least that I could do is try to live my life in His foosteps since He died on that cross for you and me. My joy has increased so much since I decided that, and I can not imagine my life without Him or that feeling. Maybe someday you can understand that.. but for now, God bless you. (:

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Why do you need hope to die? Why can't you live your life NOW and have hope to live a good life. Chances are when you die, you're just dead. So basically it's just a waste of time.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I fully agree with you. There aren't many people who are willing to speak out against religion, because it's seen as un-PC/rude/disrespectful... so *highfive* to us.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Because I live the way that I want to live, and it makes me happy to be living for a reason, not just to live. And to counteract your statement, there is a chance that we all go to either Heaven or Hell when we die. And a double highfive to you, I have been told that I'm a frequent high fiver(:

by Anonymous 14 years ago

why can't you just be content with living for friends and family and even yourself. God hasn't done anything for you. And whats the evidence of Heaven or Hell? Just having faith isn't good enough. And if God wanted me to be "saved" why wouldn't he just tell me since he's all powerful?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

There are 2 things that we can discover when we die: 1) there is nothing after death. 2) there is judgement for our lives after death. Are you ready for both occurrences? And lastly, as an answer to your question: HE IS JUST TELLING YOU. What do you think all of these people are trying to say? Do you think that we say these things for our own benefit? We're telling you about the love, mercy, power, and patience of God, but you don't think that God is trying to tell you that you can be forgiven? Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. (from first Timothy)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

God is all powerful, right? And God wants me to be saved, right? And God loves me, right? So then why: 1. Why doesn't he tell me himself? 2. If he loved me so much and wanted me to be saved, why would he send me to the eternal fires of hell?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because God was kind enough to give you a choice. If God himself told you that he exists, would you be able to choose to Not follow him anymore? I doubt it. You have a choice now, and always will have the choice to either follow God or to follow your own heart. Hell isn't a place that he sends people who disagree with him, it's the place that He wants to save you from. That's why people call it salvation when they accept Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, it was so that You and I wouldn't have to pay the penalty for sin: hell. He took our sins upon himself. For the three days that Jesus was dead, He was in hell (preaching, but in hell nonetheless). Do you know the ancient practice of animal sacrifice? they sacrificed a 1 year old lamb without blemish for forgiveness. Jesus was the Lamb of God, sacrificed for the sins of all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, but he's all powerful, so why can't he just be like "Hey guys, I'm God." And Jesus was a zombie.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What would it look like if God came down and told you "I'm God?" Could it be that God will try to tell you by showing you? The church is referred to as the body of Christ, working as His hands and feet and to spread the word of God. Now then, if the hands and feet of God are showing you that Jesus is Lord, what more do you want? The embodied Christ to step into your room, arms spread wide, glowing, with angles trumpeting behind Him, and just say "I am God"? The body of christ has told you all that you need to know, and now you have a choice to believe what we've said, or to walk back to your previous life and hope that nothing happens after death. And BTW, He is more of a combination ghost/zombie/wraith. He walked through walls, but was solid enough to be touched, and alive enough to need food. The most common term is 'Resurrected'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That my dear would be free will. (: And God has done plenty for me. He's helped when my family has struggled, He saved my friend who had cancer, He has improved my life in ways that I couldn't even imagine. It is a lifestyle choice. He is a lifestyle choice. Everybody has chosen to live a certain way. I chose this.
