That... isn't always an option. What about under 18s who can't get jobs, or are still waiting to finish school/college? You can't rush that. What about older people with dependants and responsibilities that tie them down? You can't just throw out looking after your bed-ridden parent because you're bored and waiting for "life to start".

I am a firm believer of the notion that my life will not truly start until im shipped off to college.

Yeah, I think so too. But I believe that life starts with a fresh start and is generally fun. So college would be the start.
