When you hear the word 'pedophile' you automatically think of some dirty old man, even though it's also possible for a female to be a pedophile, amirite?
I think maybe the point of the post should have been that paedophiles and other criminals aren't the ugly old bitter men they're always made out to be - it is possible for a child molester to be female, although as you said, statistically far more unlikely than a man.
Kinda like the "person you least suspect" type of deal - in records of serial killers, most of them either have significantly high or significantly low IQs, and the high IQs ones are more likely to fit into normal society with no one ever doubting their nature.
True. And a paedophile is just as likely to be a young man.
Kids get it in their heads at a young age that "dangerous strangers" are always bad-looking - old, or ugly, or something - when the people most dangerous are often quite good-looking charmers - I'm thinking of Ted Bundy, who was apparently able to get so many women to trust him based on his good looks.
Have you ever seen Karla?
She was played by Laura Prepon and her husband, the actual murderer, was Misha Collins [who is relatively attractive]
You just don't expect a cute young lady to lure you into being kidnapped.
Although, pedophiles are statistically more likely to be male.
This is true.
