+232 Band Folk: It's funny when someone plays a wrong note and gives their instrument this astonished look, as if it was its fault. Amirite?

My choir teacher loves to make fun of the band kids because they ALWAYS do that. -Choir person who would love to do that with her voice

Guilty; I do it. Not when I play flute but when I play sax and I accidentally squeak I look at it, appalled.

lol My sax was broken so it made these awful sounds and every time I would just look at it..

Haha... My sax was in desperate need of some new pads, but I had to deal with it for a while because it was in the middle of band camp. I couldn't stop squeaking, and everytime I would I would just stop and stare at it. On a different note, there is a girl who plays the clarinet and she always blames wrong notes on her reed.

haha XD silly people

Lol, I mean, you can blame it on your reed if it's broken, but then you get a new one. After that, the squeaking is just your suckish playing :D And yeah when I first got my sax, it was terrible. It squeaked so much and all of the keys were loose that I had to get it fixed twice. I was afraid to during my band class because I was the only sax and when I squeaked it sounded awful, so I'd just look at it and frown. :)

Haha... The thing is said girl is actually normally pretty good which is why I think she blames all of her mistakes on the reed. One day during marching band practice I swear she changed reeds at least 5 times. I know what it is like to be the only sax. It isn't very fun :( My second year ever playing, I was first and only chair, and I wasn't that good because we had a crappy band director the previous year. I finally hot a new sax last fall! My old one was a Bundy that was really old and sounded terrible... Especially since this is my 4th year playing, and the only other sax has been playing for 7 years, and his alto is amazing.

My favourite part of this post was the use of the word "folk".

My flute made me do it!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh gosh, I know what you mean. Sometimes, when I shoot for the triple high A, and I don't blow enough air, it sounds like a half dead cat being run over by an ambulance...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have that problem with the highest F#... G comes out fine, Ab is all good, and even A comes out okay, but as soon as I try to play F#, my flute farts. That note will be the death of me...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Amen, high F# is a bitch

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's weird that I can play all of those except my high A. I mean, even F# is okay. I'm just strange like that lol

On a related note: Today the guy who sits next to me played a wrong note on a piece we've been playing for over a month and I looked at him and our director stopped and commented on how my look could have killed him XD

Well we don't care aboot the band folk talking aboot their band style. And we don't care aboot the art folk talking aboot their art style, too. And we don't care aboot the cool folk talking aboot their cool style. All we care aboot is talking, talking only me and you.
