+844 For hundreds of years, if you were plump and pale that meant you were rich and beautiful, and if you were tan and skinny it meant you were poor and unattractive. Now, it's the opposite, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

skinny and tan doesnt mean your wealthy these days... and being fat and pale doesnt mean youre poor.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Being skinny implies that you are able to afford healthy food and maintain a fitness regimen, and being tan implies that you either vacation often or can afford to go to a tanning salon on a regular basis. On the other hand, in this society, overweight people are more likely to be from a house with low income because the food they are able to afford is very unhealthy (compare McDonald's to organic vegetables).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not even.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not even what?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just because your skinny doesn't mean that people automatically assume that you're a rich person who can afford healthy food and a fitness regimen. That's not even a stereotype, it's just something you BS'd on the spot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, no, it's not. Flip through fashion magazines and look at the celebrities--most of them are incredibly thin. Most celebrities also happen to be very wealthy. And I didn't just say thin = rich, I also said thin = beauty. Stop trying to argue for the sake of arguing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

skinny can also mean that you're poor and can't afford anything to eat. maybe you have to skip out on lunch because you dont have enough money to spend it on something like that...so therefore, you're thought process doesn't even make any sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha. No. Not in the US. In America, unless you're homeless, it's nearly impossible to be so poor you can't afford any kind of food. Poor people in America can afford food--just not healthy food. My point is that unhealthy food tends to be cheaper. Therefore, people who are poor buy unhealthy food, because it's cheaper, and in turn get fat because the food is unhealthy. It's a proven fact. Check out this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/santoshz/archive/2004/08/17/215826.aspx

by Anonymous 13 years ago

being fat means you eat a lot, being tan means you work in the sun. just like it used too. and your little if youre tan you vacation a loy was a really stupid argument. and wtf they are celeibrities that is a horrible connection. an apple costs as much or less than a bag of cheetos and ohmygosh no poor people in the us?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're making a fool of yourself and arguing for the sake of arguing. Seriously. Stop. All of the facts are right here: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/12/05/a-high-price-for-healthy-food/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol...youre an idiot. I know tons of kids who miss out on lunch at my school because either they can't afford to bring it or they dont have any money to buy it there. so, that article(which i didnt read) was probably written by either you or someone as almost retarded as you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I find the word "retarded" incredibly offensive. I will not grace your stupidity with a proper response.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

youe so right! everyone in america can afford to feed themselves! and everyone whos tan vacations!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Did you even read what I said? There things called "tanning salons". And these "tanning salons" cost "money". America is one of the richest countries in the world. Get over yourself and shut the fuck up. You're arguing with me for no reason and I'm sick of it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you know what else they could do? go in the sun, its cheap. every single tan person is tan from the salon, yeah? um youre the one that needs getting over themselves youre the one all high and mighty and sure about their argument.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

shut up bitch. you're so fucking annoying. you're wrong, goodfellow is right. just because your a pale fat bitch that no one's attracted to, doesnt mean we give a fuck about what delusions you have spewing out of your fat mouth. shut upppp.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh and if youer sick of it, dont say something back. duh. no im arguing with you because youre unspeakably stupid

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes, america is the richest country in the world- fact...but that definitely there are not homeless people who are starving

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm pretty sure I said before that there are obviously homeless people starving in America. There will always be homeless people wherever you go. That doesn't stop a country from being incredibly rich.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

homeless= no money= no food= no lunch or dinner= skinny. There are differences between being skinny and being healthy. Jews in a concentration camp were not skinny because they were able to afford healthy food...they didn't eat anything at all! Jews= skinny Rich people who can afford healthy food and maintain a fitness regimen= HEALTHY

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh wow, one article. Let's all take the information and make it a proven fact. ... :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Two articles, actually. I'm sorry for not writing a fucking thirty page essay to appease your ignorance.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My ignorance? Oh fucking wow. There are like 10 people arguing with you and you think they're all doing it just for the sake of arguing? Just shut up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well other than you theres just two others. Fast food is cheap, fruits and lean meats aren't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not always. But the "image" most people in today's society have of a wealthy person is someone who can afford to spend money on things like vacations, fake tans, organic food, fad diets, gym memberships, etc., which would make them skinny and tan. In turn, the image most people have of a poor person would be someone who doesn't go on vacation often, can't afford expensive beauty and fitness products, and eats inexpensive food (which, at least in America's case, would mostly come from places like McDonald's), making them pale and overweight. It's true that there are many, many, exceptions to this stereotype, but that's the image most people have.

tl;dr

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...It was four sentences. One of which was two words long.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i dont care enough about the subject to read a run on sentence

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Her sentences seemed grammatically correct to me. Don't you think this is enough now? Must we keep tearing each other apart over a stupid post?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if you want to quit tearing eachother up over a stupid post, you should probably quit responding.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I could say the same to you, seeing as I was well past all this and thought it was over until I got the notification that you made another post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Those were the days...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

http://www.amirite.net/549687/1127980 I definitely posted a comment saying the exact same thing this morning...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry. :( Although there is a tad difference; mine is referencing history, while yours seems to be theorizing what a mindset like that would be like in this day and age.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

For hundreds of years, people almost kill themselves with poisonous chemicals to look whiter. Now people give themselves cancer.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

http://www.amirite.net/525994 I made a post like this a while ago...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry. :( I didn't know.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that's fine, not your fault.
